  • The Martian by Andy weir was my first experience of this. They re-recorded it with will wheaton and I “lost” my original with RC Bray. Though I will admit my version was part of the plus catalog, I still didn’t get a choice.

  • wasn’t it the long distance thing? charged for sending SMS outside of your network or something. I recall whatsapp was the way to text your parents from one country in to another, even in the EU.

I know for a fact my fam adopted almost a decade ago, so we can text from USA to EU to SA to Canada. Family all over and it’s free.

  • back in the 90s I worked for a pc tech shop and my buddy in a different office location would often quick draw customers and reactions, then fax them to me. It was a game, telling a story, all via fax. gah, I loved the 90s… today these same drawings would be on the front page for 1 day and then forgotten until some bot reposts them. But in the 90’s, we could tell adventure stories in 3 block panels to others via fax.

  • Never ever replace arts, its why most kids enjoy school. but instead, create a semester long class called life that is required every year.

    • year 9, we pay bills, get paid work for the 45min classes to earn wages.
    • year 10, you’re now paying bills AND trying to buy a house.
    • Year 11, yeah, shit gets real: we OWN a fuckin house! and shits breaks, but you also have kids and your dumbass never went to college… oh and you somehow decide randomly you belong in WSB.
    • Year 12, Retirement, learning how to live on a measly $3000 a month for $5000 of bills.

clearly, we’d reward kids for taking college levels, but also trades. but you’d learn how to buy a house, trade stocks, pay bills with what you have…

  • I mean, i’m free now, you’re a linux lover, I’m a professional Linux-man. what say you Internet stranger? if you live in CO, come hang out. I have zero party plans tonight, but I am wearing my snazzy New Years Shirt!

Seriously, lame humor aside, I wish you the best.

  • I’m not too sure you’re right on that. I’m just recently separated (divorced soon), and my uh, “fridge“ is full of many good things and I wasn’t even stocking it.

Look, I’m no Brad Pitt, more like a tall, chubby Jason Stantham. So when I tell you I’ve got a few offers from my self defense class girl partners for coffee or a movie, I suspect the dating life is going to be fine.

  • I can make the payments, I choose not to. I’d be content with 0% interest options, but for now my payment is set so that i’ll either be broke monthly in order to beat the interest levels or more interest is added on, even though I made the regular payment.

College can be free, it shouldn’t be a burden to anyone.

  • Only “movie” I can think of with a pyramid thing is Stargate. But it’s need to be one of the tv series episodes or later direct to DVD movies that wrapped up the series. Like Stargate continuum, cause the Stargate: Ark of truth, had different bad guys.

  • Europe does it right. My ex wife would order either macchiato and cappuccino so she could keep awake on our trips. She’d order them and also add 2-3 things of sugar. I would just enjoy my cafe or espresso as is, depending on where we were.

Our last trip we were in Italy for 2 months, she stopped at Conad and found the American section, grabbed a bottle of chocolate syrup so she could make her own monstrosities. While not the reason for the divorce, this was a big problem for her back home. I do not miss the tons of ultra processed foods in my pantry.

  • Texas has a homestead law there, so he might not lose at least 1 of them. All depends on how he owns it (outright vs trusts or whatever). New York should force him to sell all but his primary residence as they have a similar homestead law. This should be a fun show, i’ve invested in popcorn.

Really, what we all hope is that He’s treated like Alex and he can’t write off the 148mil in bankruptcy.
