  • The only material I've seen heavily moderated by leftists is misinformation, regardless of political orientation (although American conservatism is more heavily moderated since much of it IS demonstrably misinformation currently).

I'm willing to be proven wrong if you have any examples you could recommend.

  • One comment was just "too long won't read Reddit won lol". It was seriously only four paragraphs, way to self own, Reddit guy.

I rarely see worthless contrarian posts like this here and it's generally called out by at least a few people when it occurs.

  • I can't tell if you're joking or really that stupid.

  • I'm there with you. If you haven't already, look into the treatments for mast cell activation disorder, it has a lot of overlap. In fact, I'm convinced they're largely the same thing. I'm popping pills like candy nowadays but I'm finally on the upswing.

  • Because holding famous, rich important people accountable for their actions would jeopardize the system. It needs that lack of accountability to function in a way that only benefits the wealthy.

I changed that a little. I think capitalism is pretty shitty, but it could do better for many people if the United States government stopped letting rich people bend and often outright break the law.

  • I absolutely will not fuck any of them. I hope they all acquire a disease of the genitals that can only be cured with lye and sandpaper.

  • It's like a cheat code for winning over stupid people. Us social apes instinctually band together against things we feel threaten us. These douchebags just keep crying wolf, then bear, then cougar, then three headed rattlesnake, and the list goes on, and ride that fear to further their careers. A disappointingly large portion of the population never seems to notice how so many of these issues are entirely fictional.

  • Holy shit, me too! Same as you, I don't actually feel aroused, it's just there, like the random erections teenagers get. It used to make me really uncomfortable when I was younger, I just grew to accept it over the years. I've never heard anyone else mention it before, now I'm wondering if it's more common than I thought.

  • Seriously, a hotel never charged me a cleaning fee while requiring that I clean the room before leaving.

  • Haha, yeah... That's what my mom used to say when I questioned why it seemed like my brain was run by a dysfunctional group of squirrels. As a child, I remember having to leave myself notes each night so I'd know in the morning if I was in a fight with a friend or similar situations. I'd just squirrel out and forget. Yep, ADHD. Thanks, Mom!

  • I'm at five years for ours. We used the included 'teaser' toner cartridge for almost three years. After the first year, it warned us the toner was low. We laughed and turned the warning off and it just continued to provide toner for nearly another two years.

We now have an "extra large" toner cartridge. Like owning a parrot, my wife and I expect it'll outlast both of us and our children or grandchildren will get stuck with it. We're both 35.

  • I hate it when people downvote questions that aren't obviously sealioning.

I think they're referring to how non-democratic workplaces are the norm in capitalist societies, i.e., the employees who form the vast majority of a business have little to no influence on its operations.

I remember back when someone first ran the idea by me. I initially was confused - that's the way things are, after all! Business owners OWN a business, so they should get to call the shots.

Then I gave it some thought and I began to realize how weird that is. Why should one or a small group of people get to steer the lives of large groups of people with no say in their decisions? For example, if you have a 1000 employee business owned by one person, that single person can make decisions that can result in consequences that strongly affect all of those employees, e.g., reduced income or joblessness, life incompatible changes to work schedule, inhospitable work environments, etc., and face no repercussions from their employees. They're just shit out of luck. It's effectively a mini dictatorship or a part-time fiefdom. This is somewhat antithetical to the premises on which many countries are founded, but many are okay with it because of some combination of it having been the way things have been done and because it directly benefits them.

The response I often hear is "they can just get new jobs". The issue is when businesses are run similarly, they tend to settle into comparable compensation and operation parameters. When the majority of your applicable job market is dominated by similar companies who have settled into similar benefits, having no reason to do otherwise and with many facing investor pressure NOT to do otherwise, moving from one company to the other is just like hopping from one abusive relationship to another: it seems like an improvement, but you're ultimately still tied to yet another scumbag. You can get a new job but, without working to make significant change, you're just repeating the previous cycle.

In this situation, as most businesses are set up to specifically prevent employees from being able to make substantive change to the businesses that employ them, unionization provides a means by which employees can gain sufficient influence to make those changes.

  • A significant portion of the population still believes masks don't work because their favorite talking heads told them they don't.

I made the mistake of going back to Reddit ONCE and got in an argument with an alleged "MPH" (master of public health) who was adamant masks don't work, despite the overwhelming evidence they do. He ended up threatening to stab me with an icepick. Multiple times across various, unrelated threads. Reddit actually banned him.

These motherfuckers are out there and they're some combination of stupid and crazy.

  • That can be tricky but understand what you're saying. I think many people are concerned, sometimes overly concerned, with offending others, so they avoid even making the barest hint that someone may have an issue.

  • I've never been awake, I'm reading this all by astrally projecting from my dreams. Nevermind how I'm writing anything.

  • Check out this one's profile. It's all obvious, unoriginal, boring trolling across a few communities.

The best part? They actually had time to give this some thought and this is the best they could come up with. They're trolling themselves more than anything.

  • The best part is when you get a diagnosis and whenever you share this with practically any friends or family, their response is some variant of "uhhh, you didn't know? Because we all knew".

  • I was feeling the same. I saw 90% and was immediately impressed at their optimism.
