  • Wayland is the new protocol and will be the one that everything uses in the long run

If Wayland works for you, then that's great, don't use X11

The main reason you'd want to use X11 these days is for compatibility. But that's getting less and less of a concern as time goes on

  • Well, the harm that it did is possibly being one of the catalysts for the modern alt-right movement which directly lead to fascist america so...

Sure, it wasn't the only thing, but it sure as hell was a bug part of it (especially during gamergate)

  • And then.... What is that money going to get used for, exactly?

That's the fucked up part in all of this. A government is much closer to something like a non-profit than it is to a business. Because, like, when you're a government and have a monetary surplus, what do you do with it? Of course you just wanna spend it!

I know the actual answer is "to give to the billionaires because apparently having enough money for 2000 uber-wealthy lifetimes is not enough" but you know

  • AR is going to become a big thing, the hardware just needs to get there first (and it is indeed getting closer)

This has been the case the entire time, it's always been a promising technology. It's not a new thing at all (then again, neither were LLMs, really. Most people just didn't have this insight into the field)

  • I will say, even despite me being the one constantly yelling about the incoming american fascism, I also though it'd take at least a little longer

But here we are, with most institutions and companies just rolling over. Sure, I figured it would happen, but I at least thought it'd take more than a year. Not.. 3 months

It's.. I lack words, even. This is straight up nazi Germany, except we have the hindsight of history, and yet it's still all for naught. Incredibly incredibly scary

  • The more you take an interest in and try to learn at least a little about basically any other single topic, you'll quickly realize that nearly everything has a near infinite complexity and depth

The rabbit holes are endless, there's so much knowledge to have everywhere. The people who don't appreciate this fact and say stuff like in the screenshot are a bit foolish, I think

  • I don't know what they were teaching you at the course, but home/personal IoT was never the most interesting thing in the field. IoT sees a lot more interest and use in industrial application, for example stuff like logistics, farming, automation, measuring, stuff like traffic signals and smart grids, and so on

  • Well, in that case I do agree with you. If they gain independence, the subsidies should stop. I mean, that's only natural

And yes, I don't think it would be a wise choice for greenland to do, but ultimately they should still have that choice, otherwise it's just a glorified colony
