  • Toxic oil fumes getting into the bleed air system already made one dead.

A young flight attendant on a Swiss A220 (formerly BCS3) right before Christmas.

It's another engine (PW1524G) than the Leap A or B, without the "anti wobbling system" (can't remember the name) purging the oil, but nevertheless, an oil leak getting burned by the engine will end up in the bleed air.

  • Agree, 30k €/£/chf is very low.

I’ve never worked nor lived in London but it is a capital, it should be at least 50k.

In Switzerland we would have something around 75 to 120k chf according to specific details (industry, experience, location etc).

  • Nope nothing about race, the name was just an answer to blackpeopletwitter, which is the same idea. Posting screenshots of funny tweets.

There’s one here on lemmy !whitepeopletwitter@sh.itjust.works

From what I’ve read the sub got ban after mods took time to delete violent comments about DOGE employees. Their names got leaked, peoples started to say dumb shit, often violent. Musk threw a fit about it and Reddit banned the sub.

Making death threats is obviously a good reason for a ban but apparently the reason Reddit gave (unmoderated sub) was false as there’s screenshots of the post being actively moderated with plenty of deleted messages. But it’s those kind of posts with 18k comments so I guess it was moving too fast for the moderator team.

I might be wrong, I just read about that from the r/france post our refugees came from. I did not explored in detail as it’s on Reddit and I just don’t care 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • Nice!

And to answer your last question, yes. Jlailu is having an influx of new users coming mostly from r/France. From what I’ve read they’re coming after the r/whitepeopletweets (or something like that) ban.

  • I like it for the unifying experience it is. We all do it, it becomes part of our education and gives us the feel of all being Swiss besides our different cultures and languages.

But seeing every votes results (Röstigraben, cities vs countryside) proves that it is not a huge success 😅

One thing I don’t like at all is that in order to climb high hierarchy in some companies, you have to be a former military officer, preferably Swiss-German (bonus point if you’ve done a shit economy school).

When I started learning my job we could do our military service AT work as it was considered to be an essential nation wide security job. I did not profit from this but the deal was to go to work in military uniform, getting your salary paid by the military while continuing to work for your boss. Definitely a win for the company and a huge financial loss for the confederation. They stopped that when they realized it was dumb to pay salaries to people not actually working for you.

  • That’s because you were high on cocaine.

  • That’s what I heard as well, the few grenadiers I know told me the same.

It seems that they are the only ones having to do the usual crap and suffering.

  • In Switzerland we do mandatory military service or public service if you don’t do the military.

Both are ok, I only know the military but it’s a good experience. At first you don’t really want to do it but then you have a lot of fun, drink tons of cheap beers and learn to shoot (skill that you have to maintain for several years with mandatory shooting sessions).

Overall it’s more of a school of life rather than military school. I knew people in the medics and they did jack shit. I was in DCA and did jack shit. Most people I talk to did dumb stuff and most of us have good and funny memories from that time.

Is this a useful military force? Probably not, but we are Switzerland so who cares?

  • I also didn't think citing a message on something Musk owns as a gesture of emphasis would be seen in an anti-US-politics community as synonymous with supporting Musk.

It does not, or it should not. It’s more like that Xitter (wordplay of X + twitter + shitter if you didn’t know) has been kind of the worst part of internet for years now, even before Musk. When shit goes bad on internet it’s either 4chan or twitter.

So it makes sense that the leftist pro libre gang of Linux users we are would hate anything about that website.

I was only responding to your initial question (which is funny), who is Xitter link?

I’m pretty sure that posting the same link by using an alternative Xitter interface (like Nitter was but I don’t know them) would have avoid you any backlash on lemmy.

  • It’s not only the salute but other things as well.

It’s about him being able to do plausible deniability, the salute taken alone could be a mistake from a stressful situation speaking in front of thousands of people, or a badly executed heart gesture, or whatever excuses people are saying.

But the salute + pepe the frog + kek + plenty of other signs = a trail of shit.

Separated they are only unimportant signs that those who knows knows, the rest will just dismiss them. But all together they form a message.

Besides, the salute was debunked by who ? There’s plenty of historians, journalists and whatever in the world saying that it was indeed a nazi salute.

Hell even US neo nazis said it was a nazi salute, they celebrated it.

  • First result, and there are several communities that took this decision a week or two ago.

  • No one (probably). You used a twitter link.

Those are morally forbidden in our world, and on several communities as well as written in the rules.

  • And its hard to even pick a name that sound good when you say it like Pro-ton-mail is easy to pronounce, I can't think of some good domain name like that to choose.

    I did a 4 letters domain .me

That way it’s quick and easy to say, letters by letters dot me. Usually using your initials (generally 2 letters) + ISO 3166-1-alpha2 letters country code works well.

So if you are Fidel Castro from Cuba your domain would be FCCU.me

  • I think that is a beautiful thing, not a pathetic one. If it brings you confort there is no shame at staying under a warm Trek blanket, I survived a year of lame superior school studies by binge watching the Star Trek movies DVD box.

I now have all of Star Trek on my NAS + Plex and I often like to fall asleep at night listening to an old TNG, or even Enterprise (it's been a long road).

  • 29 days today*

Thanks, I can't wait for one month, then one year, then one life.

  • I finally quit drinking in 2025 and I’m doing it for the long run (thanks to the simple method from Allen Carr).

I’ll quit smoking in February as well.

    So I feel very good.

Except that I just read that post https://lemmy.zip/post/30949122 about AI and now I feel beaten and angry.

  • Lets agree to disagree.

As a Trekkie and sci fi writer I want to believe in this beautiful future and I believe it is any sci fi author responsibility to sell positive stories. We can all imagine it, even if it’s only imagination.

If all we write about is dystopia and zombies apocalypse, then people will abandon the fight as there is no future. But if we sell utopian worlds with a trek style economy and future (or something even simpler, like no food shortage anywhere on our planet) then we might influence people to fight for that better future.

The problem with today Star Trek is not the writers but the corporations they work for. Besides, strange new worlds kept that old trek ambitions.

Whereas section 31 is… Well… Let’s say the best part of that film was the "on yo mama 4" joke at the end…

  • What's crazy is seeing a feddit.uk buying french old el paso, probably from the local "carrouf" or leclerc.

  • I never go to sleep at the same time because my shifts at work are never the same.

In a week it can go to sleep from 21h wake up at 0430, to sleep at 6h wake up at 18 max.

Same with meal time. Don’t work irregular shifts on the long run, its exhausting and bad for health.
