Most of political posts are about the US so with only a few keywords you can filter out 80% of the shit news (mine are Trump, Musk, Democrat, Republican).

Then you add some if you want (Israel ? Palestine ? Russia ? Or some of your country specific themes)

The only problem is that if the words are on an image and not title it won’t be filtered. But you can fine tune your blacklist with time by blocking url, users, communities and instances.

That + mostly browsing by subscribed made my lemmy the perfect happy bubble.

I guess living in a city canton makes it cheaper as the network is smaller with more customers.

Same same, I don’t know why they talked about the 6k pass (AG 1st class is 6500, 2nd is 4000) as it isn’t widely used. Most of those are offered to employees at management level by their companies, or by rich people who doesn’t care about money and doesn’t travel by car (so maybe 5 people?)

The rest of the population use the 2nd class AG only if they travel a lot on IC.

And most of us just have a cantonal pass + half fare card for long distances. For my canton it’s 500chf annually (public price, I have it for 370) and for the quality of Swiss public transport I think this is very reasonable.

6k (6500 chf I believe) is the first class GA.

Besides discounts, most people don’t use a GA (that covers 100% of public transport types in 100% of the country) but a way cheaper local pass, like city to city.

GA is awesome tho, but you really need to travel a lot across the country every weeks to really need that.

Another possibility would be to use a projector (it is only for homelab NAS movies afterall). I have a xgimi in my bedroom and it is somewhat great once connected to the free AppleTV my ISP gave me. Otherwise the default google tv OS on it is pure shit.

So far no joy.

Apparently some manufacturers makes internet mandatory at first boot and even if you block or disconnect it later it will nag you for firmware update every now and then.

The only possibility I have found for an EU customer at the moment is Sony Bravia. Yup Sony sucks but apparently Bravia’s let you choose to refuse the terms of service and not use the smart things, thus making them dumb tv.

But maybe I’m wrong, maybe it’s not the case anymore or maybe they will decide to change that.

That sucks, if any of you knows about a commercial display/computer monitor/dumb tv in oled 4K hdr 55’ available in Europe, I might fall a little bit in love with you.

I might be wrong but I have a feeling that it is a very US influenced problem (so now a very English speaking country problem). Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm influenced because it is Internet and there's plenty of Americans and everything is written in English.

Being born in a French speaking culture, I don't feel that way. My friends don't, my non French speaking friends don't as well. Most men of my generation (millennial) that I have met could express emotions without much problems, and women would not react badly to it, but maybe I'm just lucky.

Of course, there's always some shitty people, some overly manly jerks or non caring women, but I would say that they represent less than 15% of the population I've met in my life (data source: My ass).

So, am I wrong ? Am I influenced by Internet ? How is it for German/Spanish/Portuguese/Italian/Japanese/Whatever cultures ?

And if I'm right, well that sucks. How can we help ?

Hey fellow Skunk, your laugh made me laugh.

That’s what I did as well, upgraded to 9800x3d and AM5 socket (and ddr5).

I got fed up with intel changing its socket every two generation and if AMD does the same they did with AM4, their socket are here for the long run and wide variety of processors.

You might also have to change your PC case in the future as RTX GPU are getting bigger and bigger.
