  • I was mainly going off the Soviet navy doctrine, which AFAIK specified carriers as "tools of imperialism" (which is also why USSR haven't bothered with them, only making carrier cruisers)

  • can be used basically only in gunboat diplomacy

Is that not the point of aircraft carriers to begin with?

  • Tinfoil hat time: this is a PR move to preemptively counter the news of said tanks getting rekt. Media will be all "Well akschually these aren't real Abrams, the real Abrams woulda deflected them missiles and loiters and shells riiiight back!"

  • Didn't they move it one minute back when Obama got elected?

  • They're that sure in those anti-missile systems then? Been nice knowing you all then

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Maduro agree to sell oil to USA just recently?

  • It does make me wonder if the Yankee ruling class is at least vaguely aware of ML theory. They impose both the economic system and the sociocultural superstructure that supports and justifies the economy.

  • Indeed. And it's not just liberal ideology. It's the whole package. Ever wondered why English is practically the current universal language? Why everyone knows Hollywood actors, but often can't name their own country's great figures?

  • Then it'll just be spooks sharing incest porn

  • wtf

  • How modern? There's a saint's remains somewhere around Vladimir (I forget where), and apparently the church had to put it under glass, because pilgrims kept trying to pinch a bit out of either the body or the coffin. Sometimes even trying to bite out a piece

  • wtf

  • Well a lot of Imperium's aesthetic was inspired by Catholicism apparently, what with all the sepulchres and skeletal saints and all that jazz

  • Positive Christianity

    The what now?

  • Absolutely fascinating. It does sound like how housing building developers work in Russia, but apparently on a grander scale

  • The city is forced to shoulder the cost

I am mildly confused about this part. So the city authorities say "Pay for the land", and the developer can just go "Nah"? No repercussions? Nothing?

  • fake empire buildings in the middle of the city, built around oil pump jacks

This I have heard of, and it makes at least some sense. But the empty skyscrapers? How do their owners pay for the land if not for rent?

  • You're kidding? What about places like LA, they're mostly skyscrapers, no?
