  • I see the confusion, what I meant to say their keyboard is spying on them which includes their part of my conversation with them. Having an app broadcast the metadata of the conversations (whatsapp) + a keyboard spying on them = me getting profiled, somewhat.

Although Meta tries to go Apple's way and not share data (likewise for Google, iirc)

  • Don't trust them either but that's sometimes a good sign. It's been used for illegal activities using a 3rd party client for a while in one country that I know of, which oddly enough makes me a little more comfortable. Or at least that country just couldn't get access to the data

  • IMO I'd rather have that and have them clearly say they're not using it for anything than potentially be profiled on WhatsApp where my friends keyboards are spying on their end in terms of content, i.e. be plugged into a social network with half the conversation exposed that way.

I say sane in comparison to that.

Granted these are my own concerns

  • Answer: Signal

I wish people would use Signal, but Telegram is the closest thing to a sane privacy policy I've got. There are a few that luckily agreed to use Signal.

Waiting on interoperability, see how that's implemented in Signal+WhatsApp (hopefully with Telegram to so I can ditch that).

  • Try that, that guide also references other packages/software that might be helpful.

You only get that EAC error once you join a server, so hopefully that's the issue. Let me know if it helps or if you have trouble with the guide steps, hopefully I'll be able to help

  • Wdym? Running it?

I just had to re-extract the easy anti cheat files using this guide.

I have to do it on everyupdate. I'm pretty sure I left Temp with write permissions because otherwise it'd sometimes get stuck on VC Redistribution installation.

I believe I'm running in the latest Proton version

  • I would argue that that's more obvious, the phone/gopro/cemera is up there and you know you are potentially being recorded. Also that's in the user's control (i.e. they'll need to intentionally record).

Here, given Meta's greed, we could have a potential subtle and not so obvious recording/surveillance. How would you tell if someone passing by is recording, wearing glasses is pretty common.

So the tldr is that I argue it's not the same because it's not obvious and/or frequent as it is with a camera/phone

  • I'm arguing that they seem to waste resources instead of solidifying their existing product suite. Like features for Drive, basic ones like a desktop client for auto sync.

I know you can't make a baby in 1 month with 9 women, adding another product with only basic fetures seems wasteful to me given the state of the other ones.

So when there's products like Bitwarden I wouldn't pay for Unlimited if you're looking for the most bang for your buck.
