  • There's plenty of apps that have that pop up and still work just fine. I think Lyft just decided that they'll close the app in that case.

I think the popup comes from the sdk itself when the play services are not present.

  • Thank you for explaining the gov surveillance part of it, that is a good point you're making. There's also the commercial surveillance I'm trying to avoid, in particular having my "psyche" profiled.

  • I see now, so it's more on decrypting my data rather than stealing private keys in the context of httpscommunications. I thought for some reason it was about Proton VPN specifically.

    Thank you for explaining!

  • In my view it's either my ISP seeing everything or someone else. I don't trust my ISP, I route my traffic to a different country where I don't live in and them viewing my activity is potentially less of a problem, in my view (just in case they do manage to de-anonymize me)

  • Though none of these platforms have tried to make money yet

Isn't this one of the big factors why they are so shitty (excluding donations/non profit)?

Will other platforms accept these companies exploitation or want to have anything with them? I would guess they will rot/enshitify along with them if so

  • Looks like this is more B2B and requires you to contact them to purchase data. Who knows if they even have data on me.

Someone made a comment here that, from what I understand, that it would be almost impossible to accomplish this
