  • We are bombarded almost daily with stories about people in power skirting accountability in a way we've never been able to before. We see happening in every facet of American life, how do you expect people to honestly have any faith in the system anymore?

I understand where you're coming from, but we're far past that kind of talk sounding "crazy" anymore. It's common practice.

  • How is pointing out the fact that members of both political parties were named as acquaintances of a known pedophile "trying to feel like a victim"? Seeing the Trump comments under every single Epstein post is super hilarious and everything, but I don't see very many posts about Hillary or Bill. Just trying to make sure they're all accounted for, not just the guys we already don't like.

  • Fair enough, I just wanna make sure they are all held accountable, not just the guys we already dislike. I'm all for Trump facing a firing squad, I just sort of feel like we've gotten to a place where those kind of people don't really feel the same squeeze of justice that us 99%ers do.

  • What, you don't like the scare tactics being pushed by Dems and all of his supporters? You don't like being shamed or scared into voting for a candidate you don't really agree with?

Dang I thought that worked well in 2016, just barely in 2020, should be great this time around, too!

  • Sure I'm not talking about abandoning Ukraine or even criticizing the aid the US is sending here, I'm just saying I think it's pretty naive of us in 2023 to pretend this has anything to do with global reputation.

They didn't care in 04 going into Iraq, they didn't care the other day voting against a cease fire. Reputation with key allies they might need, sure, but not globally.

  • Reputation? Really? I mean, they can keep sending support for Ukraine all they want but to act like this has anything to do with reputation is pretty funny especially in the wake of the US blocking the Gaza ceasefire vote.

This country has shown time and time again they don't really give a shit what it's reputation is on the world stage, regardless of administration..

  • Unfortunately I think we've been living in it for awhile already. All you need to do is say a thing with a big enough platform and the people decide if they want to believe it or not. They don't care if it's factual, they just care who's saying it.

  • It's a popular issue being discussed at the top of my feed, of course I have opinions related to it. There aren't a ton of articles with discussion about other Arab ethnostates running open air prisons on Lemmy, if your feed has some I'd love to hear some suggestions.

You're trying really hard to paint this as an antisemitic thing when it really just comes down to them being weird as fuck. No country in the world operates in the way they do with as much political power and influence as they do. I don't even think that's much of a stretch to say, even Israeli officials confirm it. It's ultimately a human rights issue, I'm not calling for the destruction of Israel, I'm asking you to not destroy the people within Israel.

You can use history and semantics all you want, but Gaza is the stain on your argument. What's happening there is awful, period.

  • Yes? Did you expect me to say no to that?

Lemme just make sure it's clear, this is not about Israel being Jewish... It's about them running an open air prison, taking a moral high ground and my country's relationship with said ethnostate.

Also that verbage, "destruction" is so interesting to me. I don't remember calling for the destruction of Israel?
