  • @SpookyUnderwear @Panda Glad to know Boost is working for you both, I personally can't use it due to the Instance I use isn't a Lemmy one but maybe in the future an app with be accessible for mine.

  • @TheCrispyDud I try to put the answers I get from reddit when I need the answer, on the fediverse so hopefully others can find without having to go to reddit, this seems to sometimes help.

  • @PeterPoopshit Not a Teen Sadly, I'm 21 and need to better for myself.

  • @Teknikal Same here, It would be great to see users from Reddit still move across over time but keeping the users over here is the hard part.

  • @mindbleach @Brkdncr TBH yeah Lemmy.world seems to be the centre when it comes to Lemmy but Kbin.social seems to do pretty well with it's stuff as well but I tend to switch between the two communities/subs/magazines as they both have there own uses and it's nice to have the option.

  • @kakes Yeah unsure if the future of the Fediverse can last with just donations but it seems like most instances don't cost much to run and knowing you have so much more content than if you where just trying to be another Facebook without the Fediverse access.

In the end of the day the cats out of the bag and companies like META know this and are rather trying to create there own Fediverse instance, just make there platform join it (such as Tumblr) or hope that it goes away like X/Twitter

  • @skullgiver Things like a 'mute' for content is something can has been suggested a few things and I feel as if Mbin (a fork of Kbin) may do something like this in the future as they are always trying to make the Fediverse experience better.

  • @SpookyUnderwear What sort of opinions are you looking for as you mentioned you don't like the Linux, Tankies and stuff like that (Sure I don't really like seeing everything about Linux) but what is the ideal 'community' for you?

  • @mindbleach I've head a lot of things about the Lemmy developers and that's one of the reasons I moved to Kbin / Mbin. Hopefully over time communities that are dead rather decide to come together to create an actual quality bigger community as well as moderate better than just a simple 'be nice' system.

  • @OscarRobin Yeah some of the smaller communities on Lemmy and other instances should work together and try and create a 'bigger' community first before having to break up into different ones.

  • @Yearly1845 The content does need a lot of work on and variety of people and instances should come over time hopefully as some people don't like certain things, like you mentioning about tankies, maybe make a anti-tankie instance where you block each user that you feel fits your description allowing you and others who what way to not have to deal with others like that, it's the beauty of the fediverse.

  • @MargotRobbie Yes original content and growing smaller communities are most likely ways to grow it further and we can only hope that other places like Reddit, Instagram, X / Twitter just get to the point the users do actually give up and look for something new / better.

  • @TheGiantKorean Yeah hopefully over time people from reddit's smaller communities can maybe move across to the Fediverse more, I'm trying to do that sort of thing by being active in communities such the ObsidianMD one. It seems like a lot of people are really nice and it seems like these social networks are less toxic for people to use over the normal social media that people still use.

  • @JCPhoenix Kbin is confusing to begin with I personally now use a offshoot / fork of it called Mbin what has a few quality of life fixes including lots of bug fixes due to the developers are really active and take the communities feedback into consideration.

Blocking full instances is more of a owner of the instance thing, so if you do know a bit of code and want to host your own Instance maybe do that as you can control what can connect with you a lot more.

  • @Blaze @Ashtear Yes Mbin has been great for me, It works faster and more reliable than Kbin has been lately as well as the community actually listens when you put a bug report or feature request on there github.

  • @Ashtear Yeah the only way the smaller communities that we miss from places like Reddit to move across would be to start posting relevant content on the Fediverse in there own community and eventually there will just as much or more useful content on the Fediverse as there is on Reddit, and maybe people from smaller communities will move across growing the Fediverse further.

  • @NorthWestWind Always good to see people wanting to post, I feel social media has become a place for you to repost, steal and try and do the 'next big thing' instead of just being themselves.

  • @Rawdogg I really do hope we get more content in the future, sadly it seems like some people or bots are keep on posting about world news but I feel those get far less traction on here so that's good at least (in ways).
