@otter The hope would be more towards existing platforms adapting for the Fediverse at that rate, Tumblr already want's to move across to the Fediverse what helps some people join the fun but META's Threads is also a step into the Fediverse and if that does well maybe they will add Instagram and Facebook into the mix as well allowing Grandma to still see people's posts even if you don't want to be on Facebook itself.
@brown567@pepsison52895 As brown mentioned, things like 3rd party apps really help with stream lining the process, I know I was confused about Instances but with things like Tumblr, Wordpress & Threads trying to get into the Fediverse it's a promising sign.
I explain instances more like login in with emails, you can still communicate with the other but can't log in on the other one unless you have another account.
@xkforce Oh yeah I've seen that, it's annoying really as the Fediverse could be a really cool future for the internet I know I moved away from Lemmy instances a while back but still like the communities so hop back in for posts and stuff from my instance.
@Crackhappy Glad you're getting the best out of the Fediverse. It would be nice to have a few more useful bits of information as often I can't find it on the Fediverse, so I end up going back to reddit to find what I'm looking for.
@CubbyTustard I'm glad it's feeling like a better home for you, seems like a lot more people are better mental health wise using the Fediverse what's good, just hope it stays that way into the future.
@Rottcodd I know one of the bits of content I hate is the cross-posted news stuff, yes I saw it the other 50 posts you done of it. I've already tried to get friends involved in the Fediverse and some really refuse to even look at it due to the open source-ness of it.
@silas I do to, user love is really what this place needs more of (even know we have a lot already) as more posts we have the more people feel we might be a good place to use instead of places like Reddit.
@xkforce Yeah we has some really good pros, hopefully we get larger over time as I know if we had even 10% of the content that Reddit has we would have so many more people want to use the Fediverse rather than Reddit.
I've never really seen any gatekeeping on here, is it certain communities? if it is then people can just create another sub with the same name on another instance lol
@bananameccanica What Extremists are you coming across as I haven't seen any on here. Least people trying to promote there sites are filling up the space a bit as well as no 'ads' anyway so it's almost understandable hopefully it get's better in the future though.
@souma It's one thing that I am trying to fix on my part where I try to make a few posts a day and interact with as many people as possible in my spare time. I do hope that over time, especially when places like Reddit screw people over, people will start to move across to the Fediverse and enjoy their time on here and stick around.
@Slow It's most likely due to they rather delete there files before they think "Oh, I can just release this on GitHub or something Publicly for people to use my code" or due to being apart of a company that is very protective of its property or it's due to feeling they may come back to the project in the future and improve it.
@RookieNerd I think most instances have there place when it comes to what users may want there user experience to be like;
Mastodon - a more Twitter / X like experience where you can microblog
PixelFed - a more Instagram like experience where you can share Images without the META data collection
Lemmy - more towards a Reddit like experience
ext.
The good part of the Fediverse is that we can join together through different parts and interact from our own instances (including ones we run ourselves). The main reasons people seem to not want to move over is because they are used to the social media they are already one, the main people they follow don't want to move across and Instances are somewhat confusing at first.
My thoughts are that if META does actually make Threads federate then it will not only open people's mind a bit more when it comes to the Fediverse but maybe other social media's will follow including METAs Instagram and Facebook making it so you no longer have to worry if you are on 'X' website / app instead you just ask for there username and you can chat and see there posts.
@Tuss That's the thing I do, If I take on any more money I have to pay huge amounts of TAX on it. It's not that my company is going to take on the payments, it's that I've taken off a lot of un-necessary payments lately and feel this is one of the best tools that I most likely can get, sure for monthly payments but if my company does well I can always pay for the rest of it off in one go instead of waiting for it to finish and if it doesn't least I have a decent laptop to do the work on, as well as possibly game on.
@Grapetruth It's both, really liked some of the beats of the show, some of the CGI is spotty at point but tbh understandable with the staff being overworked, and I watch early 2000s movies with bad CGI all the time and still love it, so it's not a big deal in my eyes.
@canthidium Least we are going to have more longer shows as I love seeing the characters, Really hope they do more Loki, Moon Knight and bring back Daredevil.
@GreyTechnician I don't think Lemmy is really interested in that sort of thing or at least not the Karma stuff as it really get's toxic quick between users. If you like the idea of Karma there's Kbin / Mbin instances that have reputation that is the same thing.
When it comes to bots though there's not much you can do other than tell the admin of the instance to block them out. If they are running on another instance such as I'm on the Kbin.run instance then the admin can straight block that whole instance if it's just full of bots. So really it can only be sorted with moderation.
@kttnpunk I think it's because I've had a lot of issues in my past and not many people want me around in life so that's a stuggle, So I end up doing the only thing that seems to want me, what is Video Games.
I have a passion in Video Editing that I'm trying to replace some of my Video Game habits with, my first day of attending to do some and then game for a round or so and then back to editing went pretty good, hopefully I can get to the stage I just work on projects instead of gaming all the time.
