  • No, your argument is that it’s not hard to add two letters. My argument is that it’s not your business if you don’t like it. This whole post is silly. Just don’t participate or find a community more aligned with your interests rather than trying to coerce something out of this community. This is the Internet. Somebody made a community and you don’t like the name. Who gives a crap? Just move on to somewhere else.

  • It’s not too much because one community is no different from the rest. You didn’t like the sub on Reddit and you don’t like it here. No problem. Just don’t participate or start your own community.

  • Nobody asked you or apparently gives a shit about what would be a better name for a community centered around your country’s politics or to be more specific, your preferences. If you don’t like the sub, simply stay away. Why are people complaining about something that literally nobody forced on them.

  • Not really. Not all the rules can possibly be spelled out or gleaned from the title of a community. You have to check out the community, read the rules, and then determine if you are interested in participating. Reddit was no different.

  • Why don’t you go start a different community if you don’t like this one rather than complain about it? I don’t think it’s fair to tie the location or domain of the instance to your argument. Communities should be hosted on whatever instance they want with whatever content they want.

  • You make a good point, but it would land harder if the Supreme Court was not already a complete disaster that has been exposed for currying favor amongst the rich and powerful. The independence of the the court system from the government is one of the most important measures of a functioning democracy. You can see what is happening in Israel as an example of this point. In the United States it is no different and sadly the Supreme Court has done an horrendous job at showing they maintain any kind of independence from the political arms of our country.

  • You have to be pretty dang motivated these days to go to a movie theater. You have to really want to see that movie. I don’t think these people care enough to get off their ass, drive to a theater, pay money, and then watch crap. Why not see Barbie instead? It’s guaranteed to be more fun and you can still go home afterwards and project how much you hate it on your right wing piece of shit social network.

  • What makes Lemmy interesting is that you can see the combined upvotes and downvotes. It’s not a “net” votes system like some shithole site whose name I will not mention. So I think people can read into the voting system much more than they might have been able to do on some other awful and alienating place.

But, I too disagree with the conspiratorial comment that there are operatives downvoting people on Lemmy, as if that could do anything meaningful. I think the notion that Lemmy is being hacked because the major social media companies are afraid of it, is also very extreme and conspiratorial.

I agree we should support this community and people’s ability to react positively or poorly to a post or comment.
