  • My issues with LG TVs is they're 1) still missing support for the ESPN app which is a big deal if you're into sports and 2) only allow casting to them from a white-list of sites. So your can't just stream anything from Chrome on your computer and cast to the TV. If the website isn't white-listed, you're out of luck.

I've also had issues with pihole interfering with the TV too. Not a pihole expert though so I'm trying to figure out how to work around it.

  • Interesting theory but if it was clapping for the protectionist then they'd do it at the end of every movie that was well-projected, not just the movies they thought were great.

I feel it's more a habit carried over from live theater and music performances. They're happy and just instinctively clap even if it's pointless as a gesture towards the production. It just an expression of enjoyment they've developed sitting in a theater.

  • It can be actually. People upstream of water sources - often wealthy people with land but sometimes a collective of local farmers - build dams or retaining ponds to save the water for themselves and on a significant scale can limit the amount of water that goes downstream.

  • There's the never ending suspicion you get from your wife.

That's not normal and healthy. I don't have that issue with my wife, and I'm not aware of any friends that do either. I mean if my friends and I had a habit of going to strip clubs or something... yeah, that's going to make the misses insecure. But if you don't have a history of behavior that has earned her suspicion, I'd be looking at couple's therapy to get past that.

I have been in a relationship with someone like that. It was miserable not being trusted and having arguments about her baseless suspicions. In my case I eventually realized she was projecting.

  • In this era of highly targeted advertising when companies charge more to put your ads in front of highly specific people groups and demographics, companies like X can easily keep your ads from being associated with white supremacists... they just don't want to.

X knows it's popular with these hate groups and they want to monetize them. They're making money by placing eyeballs on an ad. They're just hoping no one notices that they're including hate groups in the eyeballs they're charging you for. If they can't display ads to the hate groups then they might actually have to stop allowing the content and they really don't want to have to do that.

  • Not sure why you felt the need to reply

You said fuck you to those who refuse to stow under the front seat. I'm telling you why. It's the only way I can stretch my legs out a bit, having my feet under the seat in front of me. My backpack goes in the overhead bin and obviously doesn't take nearly as much room as a full-size carry-on. Might get 2 or 3 backpacks in the same space. Some people think because my backpack could go under the seat in front of me I should be obligated to put it there. Some demand a stewardess help them find the backpack owners and get them moved so they can put their suitcase overhead. No, screw that... check your suitcase. I checked mine, you can check yours. I'm not making myself more cramped because you wanted to save $40.

  • Regarding your stow under the seat comment... I'm a tall dude. I'm cramped enough as is so I'm not putting crap under the seat in front of me as it's the only place I can stretch out. I also check my suitcase virtually everytime.

I do however bring on a carry-on relatively small backpack with my laptop. I put it in the overhead bin... not under the seat. I don't feel guilty at all. All the other people bringing the biggest ass suitcase possible, along with a backpack and maybe a purse too... they're the ones hogging space, not me with my one backpack in overhead. Seats are crammed enough. You wanna be angry, be mad at the airlines making seats so small and being bag charge crazy.

  • You might want to read it again

Service Charges: A compulsory charge for service, for example, 15 percent of the bill, is not considered a tip under the FLSA. Sums distributed to employees from service charges are not tips, but may be used to satisfy the employer’s minimum wage and overtime pay obligations under the FLSA.

A place implementing a service charge cannot classify it as a tip, even if it's 100% passed onto the employee... a mandatory charge is not a tip, even if the restaurant encourages you to treat it that way. Certain states and jurisdictions tax tips differently than regular wages, and service charges are wages, not tips.

  • It all depends. I don't have a will of steel, that's for sure. I started it to lose weight but have continued after my chronic heartburn stopped immediately, my eczema went away, my blood sugar came down and my triglycerides dropped to a normal range. I take 0 prescription meds now.

I feel so much better, no longer have heartburn wake me up in the middle of the night, and no longer have my fingers crack and bleed from eczema. 7 years in and it's really no trouble staying on the diet. The 45 lbs I lost turned out to be a minor benefit of the diet, not the major benefit.
