  • I had Breath of the Wild on Wii U with DLC and actually called Nintendo to try to get it transferred to the Switch or reimbursed. They outright refused, and said they were different products and I needed to buy it again.

My guess is they'll demand we pay again.

  • There's still a chance that public uproar could derail it before they have a chance to spend the money and set the narrative as this being some other BS anniversary (that coincidentally happens to be on Trump's birthday).

As soon as nobody can do anything about it, they'll stop denying it.

  • A Justice Department lawyer conceded in a court hearing that Abrego Garcia should not have been deported. Attorney General Pam Bondi later removed the lawyer, Erez Reuveni, from the case and placed him on leave.

I.e., Bondi's DOJ will be suppressing any evidence going forward that the administration deports people who have a lawful right to be here.

  • Criminal versus civil. These are civil suits for money.

That said, Pam Bondi is probably putting the to DOJ lawyers on this as we speak, to intervene and claim civil suits should also be barred.

  • Yes, that is certainly an intellectually consistent way to handle it.

Unfortunately, these laws were always meant to be selectively enforced, making the only real rule that whatever feels wrong to these people in the moment is against the law.

  • I think it's giving Trump too much credit to say this is intentional.

This is what it's like with an authoritarian leader surrounded by yes-men. Nobody is autonomous, everyone just sits and waits for a decree to take any action. Nobody will return these calls because there's no consistent policy to communicate.

It's completely ineffective and inefficient, and that's fine for Trump because he truly doesn't care about anything actually working, or losing opportunities for the country, or losing allies. It's just about the level of control he has, and whether he personally is being deferred to.

  • Exactly. Trump is trying to pose as irrational chaos because he thinks people will back down because they're rational, and that's a disadvantage.

But he's got it wrong - whether irrational or not, he's an economic terrorist, any concession is just an invitation to repeat the behavior, and his schtick is obvious at this point. The rational response is to not negotiate with terrorists.

  • “Elon. It’s me, Ashley St. Claire. I have no other means of contacting you so I bought PoE2 early access. Please pay your child support. Thank you Elon,” said an account pretending to be the conservative influencer currently locked in a custody battle with Musk over their five-month-old child

    Ok, that is really funny.
