  • Great review. This echoes my feelings as well.

Loop Hero feels like it's on the precipice of being good, but the path to success with the gameplay loop is pretty hard to sus out. You do stuff, and it seems like you're getting the pieces needed to progress, but then the game doesn't really change at all.

Agreed that it's fun in bursts. Worth playing for 10-20 min every few days. This isn't like Enter the Gungeon or Slay the Spire, where you feel like you always need just one more run.

  • File this under "the somewhat hidden costs of brinkmanship" along with the debt ceiling b.s. from a few months back.

OMB and a basically every agency they cover will spend tons of time (and thus money) doing prep work for an event that should never even be a real threat, were Congress able to govern even somewhat effectively. All that prep work happens instead of real mission work, not in addition. Just another waste that we can thank the GOP for.

  • Ehh... this probably wouldn't do anything but waste more time and money. Must people are satisfied with their Congressional representation and they feel like everyone else elected idiots, so they would just vote the same people back in.

Truth is, any automatic measure would be weaponized immediately, meaning we need to pick the least-damaging weapon. I'd nominate the idea that last year's budget is automatically reenacted on 1 Oct, with inflation-level increases across the board. Basically, "keep doing what we're doing unless Congress can agree on something else."

  • I really, really doubt that we will see an F-Zero game on the (current) Switch. The series has always been used to test/prove out some new tech that Nintendo wants to build into other, bigger games (mostly Mario Kart but not exclusively). We're too far into the Switch's lifecyle for that, unless maybe Nintendo wants to learn more into something like online functionality (yeah, right).

  • Man, I feel like this is just an awful time to buy a Switch. The games are still good and fun, but the console itself is getting pretty long in the teeth. It's really due for a refresh or the more likely Switch 2 / successor console.
