  • Lets work through this logic shall we. Lets say those companies setup production in the US, in the scenario where all required inputs are US based and produced then the only other determining factor for price increases would be wages. Do you think the end price would be cheaper or more expensive then what China can produce? In order to compete with China you have to have their level of wages in an economy that supports that low level of cost of living. Now lets see how scenario two plays out where at least some of the inputs still have to be imported, same result as before but just more costs to add onto the end product passed to the consumer.

This is a rather simplified outlook but I am curious if you can see what the dilemma would be those scenarios particularly for the US.

  • The US imports more food then exports, in 2023 imports exceeded exports by $21 billion.

Edit: I like your optimistic view though. Realistically though you guys are going to go through a very rough time. This is not going to be as simple as well we just won't send it overseas, because you guys rely a lot on imports with Mexico, Canada and China being your top importers of various foods and agricultural products.

  • You are correct because them saying they wont vote for Trump is because they are selfish and have only come to that conclusion because they have been personally affected. What they do not address in their “enlightenment” is what led them to vote for Trump in the first place and what they will do going forward to ensure they have learnt from this mistake.

  • I think its more likely and less hassle for us to just strengthen our ties with Japan, South Korea and China to be honest. Although I would very much like to see this eventuating in maybe a CANZUK trade increase and defence agreements.

Joining the EU to adapt the Euro I fear would have huge implications against our already existing trade partners and I don't it would be a gain for the better.

    Good thought though.

  • What an actual POS, but do we really expect anything else from a Trump supporter. Clear as day he should not have been released citing any self-defence. Anyone who argues against this fact shows they should not even own a gun. US is going US though, not even dead kids can separate them from their guns.

  • Also the failing economy, you know the economy that the tarriffs would make great again. The same tarriffs that as of today has wiped quite a lot off the stock market. The same tarriffs everyone else said would hurt the economy.

Also I might add the non-voters that did not vote for Kamala because they did not find her compelling enough. Whilst the alternative was authoritarian, racist and mysognistic.

So its really a group effort by republicans and well…. others…. Not sure if those other idiots are left leaning or right leaning tbh but idiots they are all nonetheless.

  • Well we did have AusAid, just got renamed to DFAT (Department Foreign Affairs and Trade), which do provide assistance to foreign nations but our scope is limited and as far as I could see we were not really buying any excess agricultural production to send off. I have to look into it because maybe we don't or all of ours is absorbed into the Asian markets. But was thinking due to the US BS could be a good opportunity to still help our farmers while doing some good at the same time. Bang for our buck, when I saw the USAID doing it for their farmers before it was cut I thought its a great program that provides benefits across the board.

  • Heya you are correct that the rest of the world is being dragged into it. The tarrifs for us (Australia) have a little silver lining though, our meat will be cheaper if what we exported to the US stays here and no alternative market is found so I am happy about that. The farmers will feel it but us Aussies are always happy to help bail the farmers out tbh, could be a good opportunity for us to create something similar to USAID and send some food where its needed. Who knows really, but its an opportunity for everyone except the US. So thanks for making every other nation (that was trading with the US) great again.

  • I am just going to say that the republicans/conservatives that continue to vote for the same party because its a tradition in their family is just as stupid as the non-voters. In no way shape or form should this style of “sports team” voting be a thing, instead vote on the party because of their policies and not the person because they wear red. In saying that the non-voters are just as idiotic, and yet all they want to blame rather then themselves is the Dems and their messaging. Jfc your telling me you did not vote because option “b” which was blatant in their authoritarian, mysognistic and racist messaging was not enough to vote for Kamala because they did not find her compelling. My god the idiocracy is alive and well over their.

  • I want to point out that all those articles that were linked advising the US is in/entering/ or Trump main goal is to usher in a guided age is just quoting Trump saying that's what he wants.

A vast distinction to what is actually happening, particularly with the Tarrifs.

I want to point out that just because wealth is being hoarded by a few industries does not mean this is not necessarily good for workers or the average citizens. Sure things got done but that's because they do not have rights nor the education we have these days to understand that the average citizens deserves better.

If this is what the US ends up trying to go back to, then lol. Goodluck with that. If you want I can start sending across some gold panning equipment as I know a lot of people made their fortune looking for gold during that time period as well. Might be a steep price though because of the tarriffs.

  • I am actually getting worried about the leopards health, are there too many faces for them to eat? Do we need to ensure they stay healthy and in shape to better continue eating all the faces by restricting the amount of faces they can eat in day?
