  • I want to say it's mainly because of the belief part I said because science is a methodology so either the vaccine works or not and no belief is required. But in truth because not all comments/downvotes did not elaborate on their reasoning I am not 100% sure. I just deleted the comment anyway and reported the more hateful ones anyway. Cheers for your response though.

  • I hope our mandatory voting means we are less likely to vote Dutton in. Hopefully whats happening in the US is enough of a deterrent for those of us actually paying attention and not wanting that BS to rip through our safety nets. Sure if someone wants to audit the government agency with forensic accountants by all means, but we don't need the same BS that Elon is pulling and we certainly don’t need to be repeating any of the backwards US policies they are enacting.

  • Yeah understandable, alot of stuff happening and it’s easy to miss a single thing. Unfortunately the volume of stuff that is happening can make it hard to keep track of everything which is also why it’s hard to combat it. This sheer volume and the time needed these days to process and even just fact check is I think a huge problem why people are either ignorant or just misinformed. They don’t have the time and just settle with the narrative in front of them… even if that narrative is incorrect.

  • Btw I will have to ask, but there has been alot of cutting this and that but has anyone heard about what they plan on spending all this “recouped” money on or we just know they are lining their pockets and the pockets of their friends?

  • I am not seeing a great future for the US, the apathetic majority (those that did not vote) need to feel more pain to be spurred into action. I feel that their lives are too comfortable to even pay attention to whats happening. I am seeing an increase of various parties within the US spurring into action like you said its mostly local, which is good to see but more pain needs to be felt by the citizens for a much larger resistance to take place.

  • No no, they love free speech when it allows them to use hate speech against others. They only hate free speech when others opinions disagrees with their own. That is the difference between left and right, left understand that free speech means we have to protect against hate speech, the right rails against censorship regarding hate speech as a vehicle against “oppression” so they can be the ones that can attack those that disagree with them with hate speech.

  • Maybe you should refer to the fact that maybe it’s the sources you are sourcing your information from and not the parties? Makes me think you are unaware that some media are bias and it’s good to check where a sources leans in terms of political views. This is also typically evident by how they frame a situation. In this case the republicans are the ones that pushed that messaging that was then perpetuated by the news.

  • Do it, hopefully will make us look at markets elsewhere. GST helps to add additional funding for our states and territories in the form of grants which GST helps to provide funding for. The only reason those companies will want it gone is so they can claw that money for themselves, so fuck them.

  • Not all of them. Islam has as one of its core tenets critical thinking. I tend to find the extremists of all religions to fail to reflect and admit wrong. I would agree the whole blind faith that alot of religions wrap their belief system with creates an environment that does not nurture critical thinking.

So I would argue that its not every religion nor everyone who believes in one of the religions.

I am an atheist btw I just have been interested in how religion or religions impacted critical thinking and have talked/ researched a few things.

  • A great thought provoking piece for sure. I am certain that it will be revamped, but what we have to do as well is ensure that the racist and mysognistic parties (looking at you right wingers) don’t use their hate to guide how continue to ensure a fair place for all whether that be in the work place or just life in general.

Failed attempts of ensuring these things does not mean we give up, we analyse, study and try another approach to make it better for all.

  • Your both sides argument is evidence that you lack the critical thinking to see that what the current administration is doing is unprecedented. If you have evidence where left leaning parties have done the same on this scale then please show me the evidence.

Otherwise my suggestion for you is to take a look at where you are getting your source of information and ask yourself “Is this an opinion piece? is it backed by evidence?, is the evidence by a reputable source and stands the scrutiny of peers?, are the arguments against the evidence also supported by its own evidence and therefore logical conclusions can be drawn?.” Do these things and you will be better in this huge ecosystem of misinformation that we call today’s internet.

Edit: I will add one more thing, it’s okay to be wrong. So many on the right seem to wind themselves up into a pretzel just to make the facts somehow fit their twisted reality. All you need to do is accept you were wrong accept that fact, thank the person for educating you and move on.
