But why Stonehenge? Why not oil company buildings? I believe oil companies generally have buildings. Large buildings. With their names on them.

I don't know anything about EV efficiency, but the rates are inverse, so they are drastically different.

Carbon taxes need a caveat that prices cannot change due to the tax. Otherwise it's just another way for big business to profit.

"We had to raise our prices because of the carbon tax!"

"But the tax is 8% and your prices have gone up 20%"

shrugs "Dunno. Carbon tax."

Even with those precautions, I wouldn't characterize it as SUPER affordable. At least closer to a fair trade

How about everyone pays taxes until everyone has the same remaining wealth?

Want to pay less in taxes? Lower your prices. Give to charity. Buy the lower 40% homes and just give them to them so now they're forced to pay more taxes.

No, the rich want fair to mean everyone owes the same dollar value in taxes, and if that's more than the bottom 40% can afford, their private bank will loan them some money.

So you literally only want food & shelter? You have no desire to eat from a restaurant, or drink an unnecessary beverage, or watch a movie, or see a play, or travel beyond where you can walk, or any minor luxury if it meant having to work at a grocery store?

Wouldn't you argue that someone working at a grocery store or any other current minimum wage job should be able to do all that with just minimum wage? Then why not UBI and less than minimum wage?

That doesn't make any sense. Why would a job have to pay you more when your basic necessities are covered? It's literally extra fucking around money. It's life style money, not living money.

Imagine all your essenital expenses are paid. Are you going to not do any work, or are you going to go do a job so you can afford a better lifestyle?

The best part is that the free market actually needs to do what people claim it does and regulate itself.

If no one is willing to work for $4/hour for spending money, then no one will. The business needs to adapt or die, not the citizen needing to cope or die.

But if someone is willing to do that job, it's truly of their free will.

Socialism, ironically, is the best solution to such a right wing issue.

You could eliminate the vast majority of illegal immigration and scrap minimum wage by implementing a livable UBI.

Why pay an immigrant more money in cash when you could pay a citizen less because their basic needs are already covered?

I'll believe it when I see it.

When the big corpos retaliate with higher prices, it's just lower income taxes with extra steps.

Don't forget to pair taxes on the wealthy with regulations. Make number go up is literally their only goal & they don't hesitate to step on your grandma to do it.

BUT saying "we can do more" in no way means we should do it all or do nothing. I'm sure you agree with that, but this type of statement has the feel of "the carbon tax is pointless, let's not do it"
