  • I'm not a scientist, I don't know one way or the other if there are "cleaner" fossil fuels. But I believe the Exxon CEO when he claims there are.

Hanlon's Razor doesn't apply to CEOs. It's always 100% conscious malicious choices.

While it's easy to believe Exxon would make up "we could have done it cleaner but it cost more than the market would bear" its much more in tune with big oil's real strategy of "we absolutely knew about it and beyond doing nothing, we actively suppressed action about it and spent a lot of money ensuring no one else would too."

  • You're 100% right, and I expect the road damage tax to be fully implemented for all vehicles next year.

What's that? Subsidies for single driver commuter trucks to offset their $150 fill ups? Coal-Roll Rebate? Open Trash Fire Grant? That's just a sneak peak of Danielle Smith's next goals!

  • I'm also a Shaw $0 plan. I had an old phone that was still networked logged I got as insurance claim from a 3rd party, so no one wanted to unlock it when I had to switch to Rogers. I complained for about 3 days straight and had to threaten to file a formal CRTC complaint because I didn't choose Rogers. A $32 billion company that bought half a million customers can surely credit my account $26 for a 3rd party unlocking service (and if some online service can unlock any phone, why can't Rogers just do it?) Since then, I've been very vocal at every opportunity to tell Rogers they suck, I know what they're doing, and I'll most likely be forced to get a foreign plan so I don't remain their customer the second my $0 plan becomes a $120/month lowest "deal" plan.

I think they have a note on my file to leave me alone because I will spend an hour telling anyone that tries to communicate with me from that company exactly how I feel about it.

  • The whole motto of the Rogers merger was "the fuck they gonna do about it?"

Every single authority that had any influence on the merger at all knew this and is making bank because of it. Of course they won't do anything to limit how much money can be sequestered out of the real economy and into this monopoly because they're getting the crumbs.

  • To be clear: climate change requires individual responsibility. Keeping your kids off legitimate online pornography websites is too big for citizens to handle on their own and requires government intervention.
