  • Every time I've ever owned a non gpu laptop, it's like I've always had to bring along either another laptop or a gaming console when on longer term trips or temporary moves. I don't care that gaming laptops are 0.2 inches thicker which somehow makes them 100% impractical to most people. I'd rather only have to bring 1 device with me.

  • Same boat here. If less of them were artistic painting type things and instead photos of real life scenes, I know I could have gotten more of them correct. I knew which Lego one was ai because it was an imitation of a "real life" scene and not an attempt at a painting or sketch.

  • Linux mint does seem to be the best Debian based distro. It comes with cinnamon. There are a respectable frequency of protondb entries where people successfully run newer games in mint. Ubuntu is bad because snap. Debian cares more about open source drivers than hardware compatibility which isn't what the average user wants to fuck with. Somehow even after enabling "non-free" drivers in Debian, it still works on a lot less stuff than other distros.

  • Drivers and kernel modules. Debian with "proprietary drivers enabled" works on about as much stuff as Ubuntu without proprietary drivers enabled. I've never got it working without issues on a laptop. You'll definitely be avoiding drivers that probably have government backdoors if you're using Debian but it comes at a price.

Arch is ironically easier to deal with in this regard. To give credit where credit is due, Debian is very stable. Once you install it on a sever, it won't break on its own. It may be harder to get all your hardware working but once you do, if you never upgrade you'll never have to mess with it again.

  • I hate snap. On my installation of Ubuntu, snap applications can only access non-hidden directories and only certain directories in home. This is Microsoft Windows levels of bullshit and I just can't have it. I switched to Arch just to escape snap.

  • I hope Trump gets the nomination just so he'll lose again. There's so much bullshit rolling his way it'll all come crashing down anyway. He'll never win. These other psychos are insane and people might vote for one of them just because they aren't Trump.

  • What even is the point? The stock market is just a ticking time bomb and when it fucks up, somehow people lose their job and their house and anything else thats sustained by income. This makes sense how??? How is the stock market not considered a crime against humanity? It doesn't benefit anyone except maybe rich people but rich people are already rich so who tf cares.

  • Like a year or two from now, probably any AI stuff that isn't self hosted is going to be 100% inaccessible to normal people due to cost. It's just a question of how hard they're going to fight to keep current free to download LLM models off the internet once this happens.

  • For me, I seem to be one of the lucky people that don't get motion sickness. I still don't like VR. Why? Because the stupidly low resolutions they run at in order to achieve better frames makes it hard to even tell what's going on. You can forget about being able to read any text. It's like playing the game with a wire mesh separating you and the screen it's so bad. Last time I used a VR headset was HTC vive though.
