Oh American christianity is something different as a whole.

I'll give my best summary in as few words as I can during my lunch.

Christianity is an Abrahamic faith with its roots in catholicism. When Martin Luther, a catholic from Germany, wrote a large 95 point thesis detailing his problems with catholicism and how the church had been warped from its intention, this lead to whay most modern Americans would call Lutheranism.

This reformation of the church that started with Martin Luther is known as the Protestant Reformation, protestants being anyone who believed in Christ but not in the orthodox or catholic belief set and rites.

The separation of that faith and the pursuit to practice it openly (sometimes even if it was MORE restrictive than the existing systems) led to the exodus of religious groups to America. This is where some Americans get the idea that "america was founded on Christianity and religious freedom", as these were protestants who were escaping religious persecution for rejecting mainline catholicism.

Some time down the line, I don't know the history of this part, the general term for anyone believing in christ but not catholicism (some going as far as saying lutheranism is catholic-lite as they still practiced communion and most protestants don't recognize communion or any of the 'rites' as those are things they see as placed on top of religion by man and not by God) was just left at Christians.

For all intents and purposes, in the US, Christian mostly means Protestant, methodist, Lutheran, Baptist, Southern Baptist (they're separate, I was raised Southern Baptist, they get pissy about being lumped in), calvinist, and non-denominational (people who don't claim a 'branch' but worship christ in a way not easily or intentionally not tied to a singular rhetoric.

Please ask more questions and I'll try my best. Having been born to a Southern Baptist family, it's a topic I love to discuss and learn more on. I'm not religious though, so hopefully none of my stuff comes off disrespectful, just happens to be a family trade I can't quite put down.

She's often listed as one of the most prominent figures in feminism due to her treatment of Joe Dimaggio, who she left after he got abusive with her and tried to restrict what roles and photoshoots she took.. Joe loved her the rest of his life and begged for her back, and she made a point to say she'd never go back to a man who treated her that way, important for the 60s if you didn't know about domestic abuse rates.

A critically intelligent woman who was taken into the world of show business for her looks and her brains intentionally ignored, and then media campaigns to push that she's just "pretty and blonde" still succeed to the modern day.

I don't deeply care about the woman, I liked some of her movies, some like it hot is a top tier film. But I'm also against preserving most people's legacy, because 'why care?'. Regardless of her impact, and the fact that that's her only self-owned home, it's land and stuff and we don't need to be reserving any more land and stuff that isn't significant. Expand public and national parks. Take good pictures of Lincolns childhood home and tear it out, people get one monument at the most, he can have his big stone chair or he can have his cabin.

My teachers had sex. My parents had sex. My grandparents had 12 kids, they had lots of sex.

My politicians have sex, sometimes they lie about who with and make statements about lying with the same sex but still get caught with the same sex. I like a politician who has sex, is positive about the act, is big on consent and privacy, and knows the internet grift.

If we want doctors and engineers and teachers and lawyers and cops and businessmen and construction workers and whomever else being represented in our government, if we want experts there to make the laws, I think it would behoove us to have a sex worker or two.

I'd pay for Mitch McConnel nudes (consensually sold) if only to say I owned copies of that tortoises' scrotal sack.

But how does that make any sense in regards to trans issues?

Like, I'd get if maybe some laws weren't being brought to vote because it doesn't fit the agenda for the day, but do you really think all 3 branches of our government are so embroiled in lgbtq+ issues that they aren't making other laws? How does what politicians are discussing on social media or on television affect whether a regulatory agency is going to open their eyes and prosecute when things are put on their desk? Is the SEC (not the government, but the governments enforcers) discussing trans medicine this whole time instead of intentionally looking away from white collar theft?

Comsenting adults, fine. Consenting adults or close enough in range of statutory laws, morally dicey but I guess it's socially acceptable. Add the fact that they were your teacher, ever, and it crosses ANOTHER line and I don't think we can lump that many "exceptions" together without it being a big ol' shit bundle.

Yeah i see some defense of the studios in the comments but Devolver hasn't released something I've heard of since the first Good Neighbor outside of potion craft and I only know that one because an off-handed recommendation from a friend l. Not to say I'm some penultimate opinion on games, but if your stuff doesn't make waves I'm assuming you won't get money.

Like, everyone wants a Stardew Valley, but only 1/10000000 indie games will receive that kind of love and only 1/100000 indie games would even deserve it. Some are legitimately awesome and present unique gameplay you can't find anywhere else, and the rest, is shit. It's poorly designed or implemented, it's dated, or it's another super generic RPG Maker level of game and those were NOT going to sell well anyway.

I dont know what the alternative is, but what it is now is shit.

The problem I often run into is, what IS a protest that isn't disruptive that DOES get your attention? Constant bashing of anyone who disturbs the status quo because you should "only target the people directly causing the issue", but they've made so many layers between them and us that the only people who can be appealed to is your fellow every day man. And he's too busy being frustrated about not driving fast enough on the road to get to the next place he's being fucked that the only thing he considers about your message is that it inconvenienced him.

So, what are good non-disruptive ways that get your attention and cause some form of action within the population? It can't just be non-disruptive, people have to engage with the concept and learn/question something about their every day life from it or else it's ineffective and people should just keep gluing themselves to things because at least that gets your attention.

I have nothing to add to your comment other than the fact that your text person clearly has a large nose and I think that's a stylistic choice and I appreciate that as someone who also has a large nose.
