That's one of the big things I'm hoping will be implemented. Not sure how feasible it is to include support for every instance, though. Hopefully all the major ones cataloged on the lemmy site are possible to do.
It's a lot for an app, but it's something I use for a couple hours a day so it was honestly a no brainier for me. The initial cost is higher than a lot of apps but when I look at how many thousands of hours I got out of sync for reddit, the price evens out. Just something to consider.
I do agree that it would be nice to be able to block instances/communities/users from the post, though. Jerboa has this feature available when you hit the three dots on the post and it was a really convenient QOL thing.
I'm subscribing to Ultra anyway, but with Sync for Reddit, I always enjoyed the option to fall back to "Pro," if I let my subscription lapse.
So your a previous sync user? Something that made me pull the trigger was remembering just how much time I spent using sync the past couple years. I had a shitty chain restaurant burger earlier today for about $20 that I regretted. I think spending $20 on an app that I use for a couple hours daily is well worth it imo.
I've seen tons. It's the one big bug that's been annoying me a lot. It's super frustrating to want to read a thread and then have all the comments jumbled. I'm sure it'll get fixed relatively quickly, though.
Yeah the $20 one is just to remove ads and is a lifetime purchase. I figured that there would be a "pro" version like sync for reddit but it seems like it's all on the same app now and not separate.
It is but it also isn't. I paid $5 for sync pro for reddit and have gotten literally thousands of hours out of it. $20 isn't that significant in the grand scheme of things if you like the app.
You'd be surprised to hear that wikipedia's main income is from their major benefactors like amazon, google, and other organizations. Donations from individual people make up a small portion of their income.
That's for Ultra. Pro will be a one time payment available as a separate app on the play store. Pro will be available once sync is out of beta, from what I've heard.
Any paid tier (ultra or eventually pro when it comes out) will have all the data gathering disabled. It's purely just for whatever framework sync is using to serve ads.
It's just that Discord never allowed any in the beginning
Yes. It also never needed third party apps because it works well, has good accessibility features, etc... while reddit doesn't. I honestly don't think that third party apps are a necessity most of the time. Reddit is just a relatively unique platform where they had a thriving third party scene and took them away without any intention to add the features that the official app lacked.
That's one of the big things I'm hoping will be implemented. Not sure how feasible it is to include support for every instance, though. Hopefully all the major ones cataloged on the lemmy site are possible to do.
