I went to an interview for Life Insurance sales. once the initial interview was over I was sent into a conference room where other interviewees joined me and we were pitched the idea of becoming life insurance sales-people which required studying, testing, and licensing which they insisted we all payed for ourselves. After a 20-minute pitch by some d-bag with frosted tips said "Growing up I always dreamed of owning a Maserati, after my success joining this company I drive a Maserati!" The moment he was done talking I got up, turned left and went out the emergency exit. I still associate d-bags with Maserati driver and that was close to twenty years ago.
That's an interesting excerpt. I always thought the proper response to an identified whatabout is to simply say "I asked you first." -That's assuming the opposite party refused to respond to the initial premise, argument, or question. I imagine if they did respond to the initial premise, argument, or question then asking whatabout... is just a standard form of discussion and debate, or so I'd think.
That's a good question, it makes me similarly think 'What happens to the social contract when a nation & government no longer provide security to it's own citizens?'
Twenty years ago she had Whoopi Goldberg's job on the TV women's talk-show, The View. During that time after a discussion about the (IIRC) Miss America Pageant she made some comments about what she thought of Donald Trump as a person. Like a canary in the coal mine he publicly lashed out at her and has never forgotten that slight. The only reason I remember this much is because that was when I first decided I adamantly disliked Donald Trump. His words at the time were the same level of viciousness and hostility that he is still known for today.
You're not wrong, but these days the number of members of the public that truly cares (to point of taking action) about privacy is an extreme minority.
I spent my time fighting AppImages until Canonical started to force Snap on me. I hated Snap so bad it forced me to switch distros. Now I appreciate Flatpak as a result and I don't find AppImages all that bad, either. Also, I haven't found myself in dependency-hell nor have I crashed my distro from unofficial Repos in well over a decade.
-It's a long way of saying It works for me and it's not Snap.
This is what frustrates me when Liberals start rallying around illegal farm labor and it's "economic benefits." -I think if we're going to have realistic regulations around immigrant labor then the first priority should start with penalizing the farmers (and other employers) that hire the illegal labor because they don't want to pay a reasonable wage or maintain a safe work-environment
