  • I have been doing the same, buying the batteries off brand individually is a lot cheaper then OEM labeled/packaged.

Though what are your thought's on a UPS lifespan not taking in to account the batteries themselves?

I myself have three APC BR1500MS2

  • I was generally just thinking how the general public 3-5 years back were protesting about loss of rights (ie. stay at home "orders") imposed by their government, albeit the protest back then may have been a little flawed and morphed into a Anti-vaccine movement.

Now, 5 years later people are seemingly loosing their rights for real (within the USA) and its almost as if no one notices. ie. Judges being threatened, public services bring dismantled, basic foods increasing in price.

I know its not a perfect 1:1 correlation. The lockdowns effected everyone at the same time in roughly the same way no matter social status. The current situation is more along the lines of "it does not effect me".

  • While the U.S. convoy’s grievances are a little broader than its Canadian counterpart, the core goal remains fixed upon ending lockdown mandates members believe have helped to upend society.

They were also upset with rampant government spending, unbridled inflation widening the national wealth gap, Big Tech censorship, swelling authoritarianism, corporate corruption, so-called cancel culture, what they see as legacy media outlets lying to advance specific agendas (e.g. alleging Canadian protestors engaged in widespread violence), and a political class that seems wholly unaccountable for past misdeeds.

  • Reading the article it does not appear she was doing anything illegal or fishy like you pointed out. She was just getting her work visa renewed at the San Ysidro Port of Entry along the mexico boarder, which she has done successfully before in the past. You do this by crossing into mexico and then crossing back.

    Relevant lines from the article

Mooney moved to Los Angeles in summer 2024, working on her business with a three-year work visa, which she applied for successfully by entering the U.S. from Mexico. She was trying to do the same thing after her first visa was unexpectedly revoked in November.

Len Saunders, an immigration lawyer based in Blaine, Wash., told Global News that he is not Mooney’s lawyer but he did speak to her a few weeks ago after being referred by a fellow client.

He said he is familiar with the San Ysidro Port of Entry and has referred clients who are in that area to cross into Mexico and then come back in order to get their visas renewed.

“When she told me she was going there, I advised her not to, only because of the current political climate,” he said.

Saunders said Mooney told him she had been to that border crossing before and everything was fine and she was confident about getting the visa.

  • By this logic is the platform its self not breaking the rules by allowing a forum for the conversation to take place?

Getting band for something like this is like the equivalent of seeing a graffiti artist painting something on a public wall, smiling or nodding in approval, and getting a ticket handed to you around the corner for "participating".

  • Outright bans don't work, viable alternatives and proper public messaging about who owns the platforms might do the trick.

Similarly for news and media outlets, too much Canadian news is controlled by American companies.
