  • I’m torn, because these giant companies are inherently evil, but at least they’re bucking the trend and standing against oppression and fascism.

“Long term profitability” isn’t the most noble motive, but at least they’re doing something. I guess dark times make strange allies.

  • The modern day Edison, who uses his money to steal from those smarter than him and claim credit, is the face of Tesla.

We used to think history repeats itself. Now it twists itself to create hideous, exaggerated reproductions of past ills.

  • Just maintaining the rule of law should have been enough. Didn’t trump just brag about musk manipulating the voting machines in Pennsylvania?

All the democrats had to do was enforce the law while in power, and they failed to do so. The monied interests in America wanted fascism, and it was handed to them on a silver platter.

  • The Supreme Court has been bought and paid for by right wing special interest organizations like the Heritage Foundation. This obviously illegal order will be upheld. At best, there might be a single right wing judge that crosses to make it a 4-vote dissent.

The rule of law is dead in America. This has been planned since the Painter memo in 1971. The fascist takeover is happening.

  • H1-B visas were a great idea in theory, but Silicon Valley has turned them into indentured servitude contracts. The way they exploit those workers is morally reprehensible, and it drags down the value of skilled labor.

And I doubt they’re the only billionaire assholes doing it.

  • Sometimes I think that being neurodivergent in modern times can be a species of sane in a crazy world.

Things in general are objectively fucked up, have been for a while, and are likely to get worse. Having a problem with interfacing your internal world to this system might not, at least primarily, be the result of a problem with your internal world.

If you’re extremely empathetic, for instance, you might feel an overwhelming dread or sadness in the modern world. Is the primary flaw in that situation with you or with the evils of the world you struggle to process?

  • How long can the bullshit machine outrun reality? That’s going to be the defining question of the early 21st century. How long can we be tricked into letting the ultra-wealthy run our civilization into the ground?

  • Google, as the judge writes, purports to treat user data as pseudonymous by creating a randomly generated identifier that "permits Google to recognize the particular device and its later ad-related behavior... Google insists that it has created technical barriers to ensure, for (s)WAA-off users, that pseudonymous data is delinked to a user's identity by first performing a 'consent check' to determine a user's (s)WAA settings."

I don’t buy for even a single second that “pseudonymous” identifier numbers aren’t linked to other data and other identifying numbers. Big tech is willing to create shadow accounts even if you aren’t a user. They will absolutely link whatever data they have to you, then deny it later, call the lawyers, and have them claim a computer magic defense in court.
