  • Unironically this. Juvie has more restrictions and is essentially a bit nicer/safer. It's less expensive to run non juvie places and putting them in with adults must (I don't actually have stats) increase recidivism. So if they get out they are more likely to get back in. Juvie records can also be automatically sealed in some places, but not if transferred to non juvie. So more likely that they follow this person forever.

  • I commented directly to them, but just FYI, plenty of actual leftists did vote Harris. It was a whole thing. All this comment does is to demonstrate that this person does not engage with leftism IRL and Lemmy comments are their only window into actual activism.

It definitely does more harm than good, but not because it shames leftists that didn't vote, it's because it upsets people that did. Everyone I know voted Harris, just like they voted Clinton and they're still being blamed for the loss. They are actual activists, so they'll probably continue to vote out of harm reduction no matter what vitriol libs wanna spit, but it's gross to see libs act like leftists (the ones actually on the ground fighting for the rights currently being taken), are the reason the election was lost. It was the Democratic Party and anyone blaming leftists and not the campaign (aka people who TOOK PEOPLES MONEY TO WIN) whose job it was to win, shows exactly the kind of person and #ally they are.

This will probably be the only thing that gets any response, and I know I don't have to say it, but for transparency and solidarity: I legitimately have no hate towards leftists who didn't vote. I disagree with them, but they made a decision based on values I generally agree with. We all have to live with the decisions we make and they made theirs. I do not personally know any. I know plenty of people who would not have voted if it was 70% Harris, and I would have been fine with that. I think a lot of people who didn't vote probably didn't think it would end up like this and would take it back if they could, but they had love in their hearts and couldn't vote for someone actively murdering their family. It's hard for me to want to mock them. I'm pro mocking Rs because they are full of hate for others, but I don't know how anyone can be happy pointing and laughing at a Palestinian American who couldn't stomach voting for someone responsible for the death of their family and friends and homeland. It's not their job to make the Democratic Party viable. It's the democrats job. They failed and now we all suffer. I don't blame a single leftist nonvoter, of which there were absolutely not enough to do anything substantial regarding outcome.

  • Literally every leftist I know IRL voted Harris and seeing this comment over and over is absolutely hilarious. Either you think bots are real people, think it's impossible to criticize democrats, think the democrats are not worth criticizing, or some combination of the above. The only thing I know for sure when I read comments like this is that you aren't and do not know any leftists. What kind of activism are you actually engaging in? What brings you into contact with the community? Nothing, because if so you would know better.

  • Yea, but these people are saying they are morally against it but still did it when push came to shove. I'm glad they're speaking about it, but it's so weird to be all "I'm morally scarred" about an action you did not have to take and knew was wrong at the time. Again, VERY glad they're speaking out, but I wish they just didn't do it in the first place.

  • I'm glad that they are speaking out, but why didn't they say no? He says they tried to talk their commanding officer out of it, but then they just did it anyway? If they knew it was wrong, why didn't they do it? Again, glad they're speaking out, but it's so weird that they did it in the first place.

  • That part is actually by design. The thought being that if you lose it that it will be more likely to be naturally destroyed than have the time to be found by someone with nefarious aims.

The 10 max rule (which allows for exceptions) was from 2004 when presumably they assumed most people did not have reason to be walking around with theirs all the time. I don't know why it was put in place, other than a cursory search seeming to be antiterrorism bs, but 10 is kinda a lot for a document you generally don't need to carry with you and don't need very often in general. Probably super difficult for people that struggle with housing though.

  • Me when Jews fled Germany. Me when people flee South America. Me when people flee war torn countries. If people (who didn't vote for this) can leave, I hope they do. It hasn't been our country in a long time. Individuals deserve the liberties guaranteed to them by the constitution and if they can no longer find that here and are able to find it elsewhere, they should. There is not enough will here to change things. Throwing yourself at the wall of fascism is a great way to die needlessly. No one should be obligated to die because of the failings of the government they happen to live under. If we had the numbers and could do something, maybe I'd understand your perspective, but we don't have the numbers, and we live in a surveillance state the likes of which history does not have an analogue for. Our government has cameras everywhere and is able to track our every conversation. People here believe this is the will of god. There's no quick fix for that and I don't think people that will be actively hunted down in the meantime have any obligation to stay.

  • Yea, to my understanding Tesla does not use LiDAR and that's the issue. They just use cameras I think. Other people posted videos in this thread: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IQJL3htsDyQ

I can't be bothered to care/watch anything Tesla related, but apparently the lack of lidar is the thing being tested.

  • I hope people stand firm about letting republicans deal with their own issues. I have R family that are not welcome in my home. I have D friends that I would gladly let stay with me. I don't think it'll matter, but no quarter for Rs imho. I'm sure the government will find a way to just keep checks going to people registered R, or open places for them, or force dependent status or something, but no one should open their homes to them. If the government is hostile to me, I can at least make my home hostile to them.

  • For real. We need to get rid of games where 10 Red coins = 2.2 mystic gems = 1256 diamonds = 1.56 flowers and you can only buy red coin and only spend flowers and each conversion has a 1 green coin processing fee and you have to convert in that order. It's predatory and so sad that people get duped by it.

  • In addition to what the other person said, you don't want to be sabotaging people who are upholding the laws. I don't think they'll be getting work from Trump anytime soon, so who exactly wins if they stay and the just do a worse job defending people or prosecuting people? Maybe if they worked for Rudy Giuliani or something, but they don't.
