  • In addition to what the other person said, you don't want to be sabotaging people who are upholding the laws. I don't think they'll be getting work from Trump anytime soon, so who exactly wins if they stay and the just do a worse job defending people or prosecuting people? Maybe if they worked for Rudy Giuliani or something, but they don't.

  • Why can't people just not rape children. Like, just don't do that. Obviously, don't rape anybody, but holy goodness please stop raping children.

I think it's great that the state has opened up the window for these people to find justice, but how is it that the rapists themselves are not being charged? The people and the state should be able to sue the rapists. Also, everyone that didn't report it immediately or helped sweep it under the rug.

Some kid was put in juvie for riding a dirt bike and was repeatedly raped there. When he reported it nothing happened and he was still raped. Absolutely disgusting. What do you even say about that?

  • I was born here to US citizens and even I'm scared. I have an international flight coming up that was planned forever ago and I am legitimately concerned about reentry. I have a passport and have never had a problem before, but they are detaining whoever they want now. I cannot suggest strongly enough to not come here. Don't support US companies or industries. Support trade with allies and partners that you can rely on and that will support and defend you and democracy.

  • I know at this point we're literally just saying the same thing, but yeah. The family is trying to turn an unvaccinated child dying of a disease into basically a positive PR piece for the disease that killed her. Even if you are antivax, reading a parent say that something that killed their kid isn't serious should raise concern. People have kids that suffer/die from niche things and spend the rest of their lives dedicated to raising awareness/fighting for legislation to regulate something that only affects like one person every decade, and these people can't be bothered to act bothered. Gross, gross, gross.

  • When I read the title I assumed maybe she got measles even though she was vaccinated or something, but no. She was unvaccinated, got measles, and died. And her parents are saying measles isn't as bad as people are making it sound. Absolutely insane. It killed their daughter, and because it didn't kill ALL of their kids, it's fine actually? I wonder what percentage of their kids it would need to kill before they admitted maybe it was serious? These people are sick, unfortunately with something way worse than measles.

  • You're incorrect mostly because the postal service (pretty famously at least in leftist spaces) DID make money (not every year admittedly). In fact, by law (aka cuz capitalists got mad) the post office is expected to ensure pricing covers the cost of fulfillment so the market stays competitive. Arguably, the main reason it is facing difficulties is because the government tried to force some bs payments onto it that were reversed by Biden in 2022. Regardless, you're kind of making my point? It really feels like people are not reading what I wrote. The argument that a government agency needs funding and therefore can't be a source of cost cutting or revenue is a bad argument. Governments require money to function. If the agency costs money, saves money, or makes money, it doesn't matter. At some point, money will need to be allocated to it, even if it's just to start it up. Saying "it costs money so that a problem" doesn't make sense as an argument, even if it's used against doge.

For clarity: I AM PRO POST OFFICE AND ANTI DOGE.

  • I don't understand how that is related to my comment?

If I said "minimum wage laws are impractical/unrealistic and aim to phase out low wage jobs" in defense of illegally paying people less than minimum wage, that doesn't make it ok? You could say the same about EPA rules, or FDA rules. I understand that people do that, but they are bad people who are breaking the law. If companies can't meet the standards then they can't meet them. So be it. They're not legally guaranteed a right to make their product, especially if it violates our regulations. If it becomes an issue, the government can then revise their regulations.

  • I never said they did (or didn't)? Clearly they are attempting to now, but my comment was not really about doge in specific. I said that needing funding is not inherently antithetical to a cost cutting department, and that it's not really a valid reason to take issue with a department. I also said more than once that I don't like/support doge.

Not sure if it's a reading comprehension issue, or people are on edge because literal fascist are coming out from the woodwork, but not every comment against Doge/Trump/Elon is valid (most are) and not every comment pointing that out is inherently fascist.

  • Honestly, it's just so upsetting because I'm sure these are the same people that would report mothers stealing formula or poor people stealing food. Legitimately sickening. They're ruining THE ENTIRE WORLD for money they likely won't even see (in the cases of lower rung workers), and in some cases couldn't even use all of even if they tried (CEOs). I don't understand why we can't hold individuals responsible. At some point just follow orders is not acceptable.

  • I dislike doge just as much as the next person, but we all know this is not a good counterpoint and if used against dems we would ridicule it. You can't just willy nilly move government funds around (legally, don't get me started on all the illegal bs happening), so if doge is hiring people that are getting paid, the money needs to come from somewhere. That allocation would need to happen even if they WERE cutting billions in spending (they're not). That is a good rule for governments to have. There are sooooo many reasons to dislike doge, but the fact that a government agency needs funds to run is not a problem. People have been complaining about the post office using similar rhetoric. Just because it costs money, doesn't mean it's not saving/making money.

For the record: DOGE AND TRUMP AND ELON ARE BAD

  • Can't companies, just like, not do this? It's honestly just so stupid and sad. It's hard to manage to get environmental regulations on the books in the first place, and then they're just ignored. It's absolutely disgusting. People knew they were actively breaking the law.

  • So you just responded for fun? You thought they were 100% accurate and you posted screenshots just to agree with them?

I did not assume everyone notices or remembers everything and even if I did how would that even relate to arrogance? I said it's ok to be mistaken. You seem to be unable to process that. Really, good luck, because it seems like you're going to continue to have a rough go of it.

  • Not that you asked for advice, but if you ever find yourself in a similar situation, I'd try role playing a scenario before ever actually doing it. Like she pretends she doesn't want to, even though she does, and she gets to experience you saying bossy/dismissive things while she's actively consenting. Consensual non-consent is a real thing, but people on both ends need to have a pretty good grasp of the situation. Plenty of people realize they're not actually into a kink they thought they had once it becomes even just pretend real. The role playing phase (or ramp up phase depending on the kink) is sometimes helpful to people new to kink. Although it's not the same as engaging in the kink, I'd recommend it as a first step almost universally.

The fact she was anti safe word is obviously a red flag, and I wouldn't do anything with someone uninterested in safe words.

  • But that's not what it looks like to you. It's what you remembered it looking like. If it looked like that to you, you'd have a completely different experience of discord than anyone else. I didn't downvote or anything, but you basically said "you're wrong", but they were correct.

Your comment could potentially have mislead others. People downvoted so it was less likely to be seen. When you noticed the downvotes, you acted like you were getting downvoted for admitting to an oversight. Even now you're acting like you were just trying to "learn something" and pretending like you were never actually suggesting they were incorrect. It's ok to just say you were mistaken. You weren't downvoted for saying you were mistaken, you were downvoted for being wrong and potentially downvoted more for then complaining about downvotes.
