  • What's this "Trust Me Bro" stuff everyone keeps talking about?

  • I'm baffled Google is so uninterested in making a serious effort in combating this practice, in their own add-on store no less. The suggestions outlined by this developer seems like a good start, and are not too hard to enforce.

  • My history log has been shit lately. When I search this log, it seems many of the videos I've watched are missing, but if I search my browser history I can find them normally. That's the only reason I turn on my watch history, as my browser's history gets deleted automatically after 6 months.

  • I'm sorry but I don't remember typing this LostRedditors stuff. I'm just as confused as you are. (some mod edited my comment?)

And it was never my intention being combative about the NewPipe competitors. I just think Vanced and ReVanced are in a completely different category of apps. As they potentially may step on some DMCA rule, they're far more vulnerable of being taken out by Google. And most hobbyst devs just abandon their projects at the first sign of a DMCA or Cease and Desist.

  • What's stopping a modder from releasing a balance patch to fix the community concerns? Or is Blizzard's "always online on a single player game" effective in thwarting any attempt?

  • The main incentive for Blizzard to keep their game to their own launcher is not having to pay the 30% platform fee to Valve, especially on a MTX-based game.

It they are knelling to Valve now, it's a sign Overwatch 2 is flopping so hard that the potential for Steam users playing the game outweighs the 30% in lost revenue.

  • Yeah, the FOMO is one of the main reasons to make me stay away from these live service games. If they can pull the plug at any time, what's the point in giving my attention to such games?

  • By side game I'm only aware of the PS Vita game. There's more than that?

  • Will they ever make a telescopic controller? The options available for this kind of product are very few.

  • Are they planning a remaster?

  • It doesn't preclude being sued, but at least it saves face for now.

  • I guess what he meant is that, at the moment, Reddit Gold revenue goes 100% into Reddit's pockets. But if they start funneling part of this money into contributor's pockets, it means Reddit is effectively paying them from a money pool that was previously exclusively theirs. Thus, Reddit is "paying them".

  • This is extremely true for modern social media sites. Normal news sites used to push their apps too, but I guess this fad has passed.

  • So the text of the law is not even publicly known yet, but it was approved nonetheless? Wtf?

  • In general, movie piracy is more targeted by rightsholders, so if OP is not interested in this category he's pretty safe in a country the doesn't care.

  • How will this migration actually work? The comments transfer over?

  • GabeN, is that you?

  • The WhatsApp Business stuff is a more recent development. When FB bought them they had very little to work with.

  • Maybe you're right, but I'd be hesitant to say WhatsApp user's contacts list would be worth US$ 20B.

My theory is they bought WhatsApp just because it was organically growing to be the dominant messaging app, and Facebook didn't want to lose this marked and bought them to squash the competition.
