  • The CEO is not the issue here.

The man sold 50k stocks in the company just this year, 2k of which the day before the announcement, he knows this is suicide.

The board needs to go, but the reality is that unless you go private there's not much to do on that front.

In fact, when they do fire him, don't expect things to change. This is an Ellen Pao maneuver.

  • Yeah, last I checked harming things is not illegal in all circumstances.

Hunting, self defense, in some cases defense of property or of others.

So you are 100% correct, their purpose is to harm things. Some do so efficiently enough to kill them, too. None of this is inherently illegal, so there's no issue with them being on sale or legal.

  • Unironically? No, not at the level of university. In highschool you are basically being babysat while they teach you. You'll be quizzed periodically and steered and told when you're falling behind.

In college/uni that's just you having to have or get your shit together and self-manage all that.

It makes a world of difference.

  • In my mind there are 2 reasons why someone should go to higher education:

    • You want a career that requires a specific degree, and the pay will be worth the extra years of investment and essentially a delayed start in life.
    • You are genuinely curious about the subject and want to learn it for the sake of learning it.

Great if you get both in the same subject but otherwise pick your price point.

No point in going to Harvard for something you have no way or intention to monetize later down the line.

  • Since we're throwing numbers around, give me your best guess as to the cost of building an apartment block, per unit. Ignore the cost of land for now.

I'm curious to see if you're going to notice a problem with your logic or not.

  • Sales are typically not going to be followed up by refunds in a meaningful way, however poor public reception will hurt the sales of the next iteration.

The sales were ok but the consensus is that the game is shit, or ” the udders are dry, time to slaughter the cow"

  • I have a 3 year old legion that i still use as my daily driver for work (need ed a GPU) and I second the recommendation.

It's quite solid, i opened it once to slot in my previous laptop's hdd and the process was painless, and aside for the battery not being as good as it used to be after 3 years, it's shown no sign of wear and tear.

  • Survival games existed before Minecraft but in a very different form.

Survival Kids is a konami series of games that started on the GBC and went on to have 3 more episodes on the DS, where the premise is always "you're stranded on an island and must find a way to be rescued", but unlike modern survival games, the world is custom built and the evolution of the plot is usually pre-determined, with maybe some branching but nothing extremely dynamic. You also couldn't alter the game world in any significant way beyond what was already expected, such as building bridges in predetermined spaces and so on.

It has some hallmarks of the later versions of the genre, like an emphasis on crafting and needs management such as hunger and thirst, so the connection is definitely there.

  • The problem is not affordable housing, there's plenty of that in the US, the problem is getting people to states where housing is affordable without significant drops in quality of life due to lack of access to services and such.

Like, you could buy land in Detroit for the price of a decent car, put a trailer on it and you're already on the property ladder, but you're in Detroit.

  • Or worse yet, they do it to establish that they have the authority to decide what you get to read/watch/partake in/enjoy.

It's a pretty fucking naked powergrab when people like Jack Thompson campaign to get games banned for being obscene or "localizers" censor content because they claim the culture they are localising for finds it objectionable, when really it's just them, and the target demographic wouldn't care or worse would actively prefer the original interpretation.

I still remember the utter shitfit some outlets pitched for Dragon's Crown.
