  • What we need and what is are two wildly different things. I also think asking for the collapse of one party and the creation of another is only going to lead you right to the same problem. It may take you a bit to get there but a two party system is a recipe for exactly what you are seeing.

  • You are high off your rocker if you legitimately think you have a better chance of winning as an independent (or whatever they want to call the new party) than a democrat right now. We are so woefully entrenched in a two party system that we need multiple elections cycles just for a third party to even get a foothold in people's minds. I am very very in favor of additional parties and have always thought that the two party system is absolutely terrible for just about everything we wish a government to do but at this point I just don't see it happening for quite some time, epecially with first past the polls voting.

John Adams was painfully accurate in his warning:

Let me now warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party... It serves always to distract the public councils and enfeebles the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms; foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption... There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties.

The whole letter is fantastic and incredibly salient today. But this sums it up decently.

  • As a very dumb person, is what the Dems that voted for this said wrong? Is there a chance that Asshat Trump and his Billionaire Butt Buddy would go on an unchecked rampage without Congress in session? Or is that just bull crap? I don't know enough about how everything works when congress shuts down.

  • There's lots and lots and lots of examples of tariffs flopping tho. They have their place for sure I'd say but typically you end up with crappier products for a higher price. And that's not even counting corollary effects like reciprocal tariffs or straining international relationships (which, surprise surprise, we've already seen both of and we haven't even really started yet lol)

  • Yeah I'm pretty much in the same boat. I just go online now for all my shoes. In the before times when I had to go in person it sucked, they'd have my size in like one or two shoes, there was no picking at all. But online there's a waaaay bigger selection obviously. Sucks that you can't try stuff on but once you get familiar with brands they all kinda for similar enough

  • The podcast he went on was utterly bonkers lol. He was complaining that the Democrats didn't get him out of legal trouble even tho he donated so much money to them. So now he's switching sides to Republican since they actually take care of their criminals lol.

  • It's just so uncertain if it's actually safe and effective tho. We must look deeper! And as soon as rfk is done scraping that moose of the highway in Montana, you bet your ass he's gonna do just that. Cod liver oil for all!!!

  • Not to mention the obviously rushed and dumbass way they're just wholesale firing is absolutely going to have hidden costs resulting from those agencies trying to make up for suddenly not having the ability to... do what they're supposed to.

I can save a lot of money now by never changing the oil in my car but later Im gonna pay out the ass cause I'm gonna have to pay to replace the whole engine because of it.

  • I do think there's at least some validity to it. Both have issues for sure. But it's starting to seem like putting a school bully and a mass murderer on the same level of shititude at this point. Both sides suck to an extent. Both sides absolutely don't suck equally tho from my perspective.

  • FINALLY! God it feels like I've been saying it forever but OUR WATER IS TOO CLEAN! Cannot tell you how much I miss sewage and dead animals in my water. Puts hair on your chest! Kids these days barely know what it's like to get a little cholera or typhoid. By the time I was six I had e coli twice, and salmonella. Wouldn't trade it for the world. MAGA!!

  • I don't think it will happen because

    A) she's a woman and they've tried that twice already

And more importantly B) she has said many times she doesn't agree with a lot of the democratic party's policies. She has beliefs that would undoubtedly vibe with a ton of voters but there's been a very obvious pattern of both parties only primary-ing "fly right" candidates.

I think Bernie scared the crap out of them and they don't want a repeat of that. Heaven forbid we get a candidate actually for the people!

  • It was my very first thought too. Well, second after what a complete twat JD Vance was. But it just seemed so oddly paced. Like I've never seen a conversation go like that it was so strange. It felt really contrived. Course it could be chalked up to insane immaturity too so idk.

I mean Trump's answer to what if Russia breaks the ceasefire was

What if the bomb drops on your head right now? OK, what if they broke it? I don’t know, they broke it with Biden because Biden, they didn’t respect him. They didn’t respect Obama. They respect me."

So essentially his answer to what happens if they break the ceasefire was... they won't break it? But no, zelensky is the world's biggest asshole for wanting to know about securities.

  • This is something that is truly baffling to me. Veterans almost universally not only vote Republican but are fervent supporters of Republican agenda and year after year, without fail, Republicans try to fuck them over specifically. It's so weird to me.

Already with this term... Veterans are beneficiaries of a shit ton of DEI programs. Like a TON. And they are actively voting to get rid of all of them.
