I meant like ICE agents bringing fake ID so it had someone elses name on it and stuff. That wouldn't be impersonating law enforcement since they technically are.

Id would be trivial to fake. So either way it wouldn't solve much without a hefty penalty for using a fake one.

Actually I googled it. The most expensive was listed at $30k. I thought I had read a much higher number previously. And the less expensive are $1k. But you do need pilots, and you need overwhelming numbers. That said, far more doable than I thought.

The part where they have no air force. A road they can block, but the helicopters don't have to fly over the town to get to the island.

It's physiological. They don't like other people dictating to them how to do things.

You think they drive there? Helipads. The road is for the poorly paid workers.

If the Ukrainians can do it to russian airbases, it should be doable to the island. But it costs money. And the type of people who have that kind of money see themselves living on that island some day.

I think you know what I meant. They had people spraying graffiti on non federal building and such. You also had the wamo cars being lit on fire. If left unchecked, those things escalate pretty fast. For reference, I live in the portland metro area. We have experience with this.

I'm okay with it. You can't have roving mobs destroying your city every night. I think the cerfew itself is a bit heavy handed, but my understanding is that it covers a very small area. And it doesn't affect the daytime peacful protests, so it isn't squashing the protesting really, just trying to cut down on the damage.

I don’t think the peaceful protesters (which are by far the majority) care about them building defenses.

I don’t think the majority of people are ignorant or apathetic. I haven't met a single person who was either of those. Seems like everyone is pretty solidly on one side or the other. I think most simply feel powerless to do anything about it, which is very different than apathetic or ignorant. I suspect that was true in Germany back then as well. Due to a lack of access to open media, many probably felt they were one against 1000 or something.

They could have just said that due to extremely decreasing popularity of ICE, the insurance costs have become prohibitive. Thats like 2 zingers in one. They could also toss in something about respecting the wishes of thier constituency for extra flavor.

Seeing as how donactions are only a deduction from your taxable income, 10k won't get you to not paying taxes unless you make like 20 or 30k or something. And I gotta think thier system will flag that, probably just assuming it was a typo.

But billionaire are supposed to pay nothing. That's intentional. Lol.

The more local the governing body, the more they have to pacify the not in my backyard people. The federal government can generally ignore those people and just make things that need to happen, happen.
