  • I say a home run is an out. Really put the pressure on them. I would also make it easier to hit, there are a variety of ways to do that. Might have to allow an extra outfielder though. But the idea is to make it less of a pitcher vs hitter game. Make fielding matter, cause that skill ahs really gone down the tubes the last few decades.

  • I'm not so sure. Once the Republicans no longer have the democrats to fight against, they will fight against each other. This might happen as well in the leaving blue states, but I feel like the democrates don't hold as big of a majority in most of them. So they are already used to it. And they aren't so much the party of fire and brimstone. So more likely they would try to do all the social reforms and just fall on thier faces.

  • A lot of people don't realize how many times the problem they are solving has already been solved. But after being in the industry for 3 decades, very few things people are working on haven't been done before. They just get put together in different combinations.

As for AI, I have found it decent at wruting one time scripts to gather information I need to make design decisions. And it's a little quicker when I need to look up a syntax for a language or like a resource name for terraform. But even one off scripts I sometimes have to ask it if a while loop wouldn't be better and such.

  • Its not about imminent threat. The "stated" purpose of the strike was to prevent the use of the materials at the site in a bomb. (Nevermind that our own intelligence people said they were still years away originally). But under that goal, cargo trucks could move material to many different locations and make it nearly impossible to keep track of. While there is a lot of BS in there. It's an argument that can be made.

  • I'm not saying he did. I am saying it can be argued endlessly in all directions. Which counters the "clearly" impeachable part. And really, he has done much less gray things he could be impeached on. This isn't going to be the one that makes it happen.

  • Fortunately, 90% of coding is not hard problems. We write the same crap over and over. How many different creat an account and signin flows do we really need. Yet there seem to be an infinite amount, and each with it's own bugs.

  • Sadly, the lack of junior devs means my job is probably safe until I am ready to retire. I have mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, yeah for me. On the other sad for the new grads. And sad for software as a whole. But software truely sucks, and has only been enshitifying worse and worse. Could a shake up like this somehow help that? I don't see how, but who knows.

  • To skip congress, all they need is "something" they can use to say it is urgent. And they do have satellite activity showing a bunch of cargo trucks or what not. So they can hang thier hat on that and say it couldn't wait. That would make it pretty hard to impeach on frankly. So this call is just political theater.

Now as for should we have done it... well I can at least see both sides. Iran has been defiant in it's continued operation of it nuclear program. And all the "talks" haven't really done much. The bombing likely does slow them down at least. Of course the other side to that questions what right does the US have to say other countries can research nuclear anything.

So there really everything about this is in the gray area where logical arguments could be made and debated endlessly about.

  • Well, it's mostly true. I mean this isn't normal civil unrest. This is the people being fed up with a government trying to use fear as a weapon against it's own people. And the mob violence isn't generally preventing federal officers from doing what they want, it is in response to it. There is some mob shouting preventing some federal officers ftom doing what they want.

But issue at hand is that the law is very vague about the quantity needed to trigger the allowance of using the national guard. By just reading it, ICE could send a single agent to arrest 5 people in a facility that has 500. If the people stop the arrests, then it meets the written requirements. It ludicrous though to interpret it that way of course. But since it was written so poorly, we are at the mercy of the courts.

  • Pushing it to that point is the most likely way to get the military to fracture. Which is the only realistic way to win this by force. Not saying force is the only way, but if it is the way, you need to force a split.

  • Not if you want them all to spread out so they are harder to counter. I am sure they have some anti-drone tech to stop people from taking video, but with enough drones, spread out it probably won't be enough. And you want them to fly low to avoid early detection. You also want them to come in from various directions all at the same time. And I am sure it is a big island, so you want to pick your targets on the fly.

  • Actually I googled it. The most expensive was listed at $30k. I thought I had read a much higher number previously. And the less expensive are $1k. But you do need pilots, and you need overwhelming numbers. That said, far more doable than I thought.
