I'm 50/50 on this one. It's a cemetery website. Seems like it should mostly stick to who is buried there, and where. Ideally it would link out to some other government site with general information on the person. That could of course link to things like wikipedia or what not. Having notable graves makes it feel like a tourist attraction. And producing educational history material seems a bit outside their lane. Seems like there should be better sites with more experts to handle that.

Are there any actual news sources left? They all seem to be clickbait.

By inconsistently choosing when they will moderate supporting murder and when they won't, they are essentially deciding what murder is okay. And that "should" disqualify them from section 230 protections. It doesn't because section 230 is too broad. But by picking which third party content to allow they are essentially editorializing using other people words.

While this may be true for a lot of Americans, plenty are essentially trapped. Our education system basically ensures that we don't have the language skills or cultural understanding to get a decent job in most any other country. And the work style that has been drilled into us since birth isn't welcome in most other countries either.

Many of us have kids born before this path was clearly the way things are going. I wouldn't choose to have kids these days in the US unless I had like family outside the country so I knew I had an escape path.

Those that can leave, have been doing so. The rest are or feel trapped. They simply have too much to lose, and little chance of a decent life if they leave.

I for example can't fight back against my government in the most effective ways because I have kids. And they deserve a chance to make their own decisions about polotics. But if I say damage something important, they won't likely get much of a choice since I won't be able to support them anymore. And because of our healthcare system, no job means extremely substandard healthcare. So like my autistic son would probably never be able to manage his own life. That is the delema many of us face.

I assumed the assault was after the men were pushed into the canal. But my point was it felt like the authorities were leaving things out. Maybe to not scare away tourists anymore than possible.

Others were saying $2k... I am thankfully under $2500. Though I forgot insurance is wrapped in my monthly payment. So maybe I am under even $2k. I know rent around here is between $1k and $2k a month for a two bedroom apt though.

Something doesn't add up about the 3v3 male conflict. I can't imagine 3 guys getting all 3 in the canal without the use of weapons or something. And the 2 swiming to saftey abandoning the women seems odd too. Then the women hanging around rather than running. Just feels like there are some details missing in the article.

I agree we don't owe them anything. And if being uncivil will make a difference, I am all for it. But if it won't help, then let's stay civil. In this specific case, if the floor of the house becomes a circus, people will start voting for clowns intentionally. Because it will become a required skill. I would rather it not. We already have too many clowns in there as is. And someday I hope it can go back a bit toward what it is supposed to be. A place for compromise. Though I do admit that I don't have a lot of hope.

Well a big part of it all is that the interruption doesn't really make a difference. It's a show, likely done to get attention on himself. If it were to be something very effective, that would be another story. But it will start us down a path where the chamber will resemble a WWE production. The original point though was that if the constituency of the dems that voted yes, support that vote, then they did thier job in representing thier voters. So that's okay. If every vote follows strict party lines our government will be even more of a pendulum than it currently is. Swinging wildly to which ever side currently has the power.

The democrats and thier party have been bought and paid for. They aren't going to save us from the billionaires.

I know it feels like it. But you could be in North Korea. That's pretty close to rock bottom with very little hope of ever improving.

I think though that a lot of spouses lie about things early on in a relationship. Usually about things they are or are not interested in. It's kind of part of courting. People get divorced all the time saying the other person wasn't who they thought they were. And no one willing has a relationship with someone who will cheat on them, yet it happens. The person said they would be faithful, but they lied. This isn't that far off really. And no one would call those things rape. They are terrible, but not the same. And they are too common place. Associating them with rape would make rape more common place. Which will reduce peoples opinions of how big a deal it is.

I think an awful lot of people around the world would argue we are nowhere near the bottom.

I've read otherwise on the costs of services per person and density. A fire station can only reasonably cover a certain amount of space. So low density housing means you need more fire stations for the same amount of people. And of course you need more road per person in general.
