  • I mean VP in recent history is there to balance the ticket. If the presidential candidate is weak in one area, they pick a VP strong in that area. Sometimes the VP is just to lock in a competitive state.

The winner picks the VP. If number 2 works well, great, but the winner picks.

  • You could beat this president at tic-tac-toe.

  • I think anarchy chess allows for such rulings.

  • Franklin Richards confirmed.

Also we still don't have a reveal for John Malkovich. I know the expectation is Downey Doom in a mid/post credits but I'm wondering if we get him earlier. Reed Richards has a lot on his plate and I wonder if he makes some poor Doom-related choices.

  • Exactly, Chess is Mario Kart.

Anyone can learn how to play Chess. Anyone can learn how to play Mario Kart.

You slap a controller in someone's hand tell them "A" is go and they can play Mario Kart. Sure they have to learn the track, where to collect power ups, where the shortcuts are, and eventually they have to learn about and master drifting.

But being a genius in Mario Kart doesn't make you a genius. No heist movie ever said, "And this genius over here? They scored first place in 200cc Special Cup."

  • I expect they'll patch both. Start with patches to the Switch and then, if the game can be patched, patch that.

  • If I only get to pick one, I pick Jessica Jones.

I think you can easily say that Luke & Claire moved away and Danny moved to some new magic realm.

But! If you're bringing them back, bring back everyone. Not just Jessica, Luke & Danny, bring back Misty Knight and Colleen Wing and just any side character we've introduced. We had Endgame. We're going to have Secret Wars. Give us the small screen version.

  • I mean in a war on vigilantes, the return of the Defenders makes sense. I expect us to see a new White Tiger next season. We already have Swordsman. Why not bring back some old ones?

  • I mean it was just declared, so they probably haven't had a chance to take interest yet.

But... If the show takes place during the Ritson administration (Secret Invasion president) you can just say that he is a weak/shitty President and that's why the federal government isn't doing a lot.

But... If the show takes place during the Ross administration (Brave New World president) you can just say that the President just turned into the Red Hulk and the federal government is in disarray and that's why the federal government isn't doing a lot.

I expect it will come up next season, but I also guess that Fisk will have/create a generally good approval rating for himself so the New York governor will be hesitant to step in.

  • I think that's the most likely with the special presentation, just start with that exact scene. However I'd prefer if we saved the next story beat for Daredevil season 2.

The reason I want to hold back is that we know Frank can't win during his special presentation, because we need the anti-vigilant task force for Daredevil. We also know he can't kill the current face of the Taskforce, Officer Powell, because again we need him in season 2.

I think going back and seeing what Frank has done and been up to prior to the current season makes more sense. Maybe Frank isn't even in New York until he hears something about the Punisher in New York. Frank can then find and defeat a whole team of knock offs, only to realize this hydra has too many heads, setting up the team up with Daredevil and others more directly.

  • Yes.

Marvel TV shows also tend to hover around TV-14 (US ratings), which is the TV equivalent. Echo & Daredevil Born Again do venture into TV-MA but that's more for violence, they still don't (rarely?) say "fuck".

  • OMG! I HAVE THE EXACT SAME NUMBER!

Wait what three digit number do you have on the back? No way those match too.

  • This reminds me of a short story/presentation by computer scientist Ken Thompson titled, "Reflections on Trusting Trust".

It's worth reading but basically we use software to create software. We trust that the software we use to create software can be trusted. We have the source code, but that's just words on paper, it doesn't do anything. We have to use software to turn that code into software.

To light a campfire take a burning stick and apply it to the pile of tinder and dry wood. Where do you get a burning stick? Place one in a campfire.

  • Technically only Benedict Wong is the spoiler, since James Marsden had a chair in the chair reveal teaser. Plus of course the Sorcerer Supreme is in the film, that's why Doctor Strange is allowed to sit this one out. (Although he probably won't.)

  • Honestly he's what excites me the most about the film. I like all the characters, don't get me wrong, but Marvel has the opportunity here to do something really fun with Sentry.

I think Fantastic Four will be the kickoff of a new high quality Marvel era as they setup Doomsday and Secret Wars. My hope is they get to start early and can sneak it into Thunderbolts. The characters are there, the story is there, I just hope they can pull it off.

  • Killing Kingpin would be a huge mistake. Villains should stick around (generally). I'm fine if someone wants to step up and eliminate Fisk, but keep him around.

But really I want to see Kingpin win, and keep winning. When Kingpin showed up in Hawkeye, Hawkeye says that's the guy he's worried about... And he basically just loses.

As Mayor he's rising up. He's just won back Vanessa. His Taskforce are free to do whatever they want. Now he needs to win something else. He needs to just dominate. Others can try to take him down, maybe some are even successful, but he always needs the ability to come back.

  • Wow. I did not have Daredevil taking bullet for Kingpin on my bingo card.

So much about this episode to love, it's sad the finale is next week. I know they're filming season 2 right now so it'll be "soon", but the wait will suuuuuuck.

Anyway Michael Gandolfini continues to be my favorite new character. He's a believer in Fisk. BB playing him, but Fisk has to know. Oh it's going to be brutal.

Also confirmation of Swordsman. I hope Tony Dalton sticks around for a long time. I just love when a minor character gets elevated to top tier status.

But of course our winner this week is Bullseye. Nearly killed a guy with his tooth, then finished him and another off with a pair of scissors (?). It's the perfect level of "superhero" wackiness. Kingpin created him, so to see him fully unleashed is just beautiful.

  • To be fair the Switch launched with Zelda Breath of the Wild, which is arguably the best Zelda game and possibly the best game on the Switch.

So even with only a single title, the Switch had a strong launch title.

Now for Switch 2 they're launching with Mario Kart. Now I know Mario Kart is the top selling Switch game, so it sounds like a good launch title, but I'm less confident.

I know Nintendo hasn't made a new Mario Kart game in 10+ years, just updated the existing Mario Kart 8, and I'm sure it'll be fun, but I think Mario Kart is too casual of a game, I think it sells systems eventually, but not so much on launch.
