  • The interesting thing about BFV was that Dice got spread thin during development of the updates.

Battlefront 2 was not in good shape and started recieving a ton of fixes, and during that time is when BFV development slowed to a crawl.

I'm assuming disney was not happy with the negative press? But I have no real clue

  • So, one thing that's funny is the one instance that popped into my head was when an EA exec actually recommended a feature that ended up making Anthem better (but also possibly worse?). There's a famous story of how they were requested to add flying to the game, which added tons and tons of work and a good portion of dev time. But arguably was the best part of anthem. Unfortunately, they were unable to salvage it as we saw.

  • I recently heard on the news in passing (or at least I think that's where I heard it) that shoplifting has gone up by like 30% over recent years.

They were talking about the new ways stores are incorporating security measures, and it made me laugh a bit. All this time and money spent on increasing security when they could rally around paying people better and decreasing inflation.

For example, if you want people to spend money, they need money to spend. Mind blowing stuff, I know

  • Everyone else, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm a very casual downloader. I rarely download and it's usually older content like movies or retro games. But my personal method has been do a ton of reading. Find chatrooms, forums, etc, where people discuss this topic and read up on the various sites and people's experiences with them.

Have a separate device if possible. One you're willing to wipe if something went wrong. I've also heard of people sandboxing downloads to try and keep things safer, but I've never personally tried it. My assumption is that the older and less complex a download is, the better, but that could be pure ignorance on my part.

For example, if I'm grabbing a GBA game, it's one single file. There's less to visually scan, and it's easy to see if there's something that looks off. This isn't always the case, though. For example, one .exe file could ruin your entire machine.

Something newer like a more modern PC game release, I would pick it from a list of sources that people claim are safe, and then basically hope and pray that I didn't just infect my machine lol. At that point, I try to also look for any suspicious behavior, or if i notice any kind of slowdown, issues with the machine, etc.

Generally speaking, anytime I've infected my machine (that I know of), whatever virus protection I've been running has caught it and prevented issues. But generally speaking, I would assume that unless you're downloading simple stuff, you're taking some risk.

  • One of the best gifts I got for someone else (and myself I guess because we enjoyed it together) was all the episodes of Reboot. To be honest, I've been at a loss as to what I would even sail the seven seas for right now. I have too much of a media backlog to warrant finding something new anyways.

  • I feel like it was bad that I was thinking of the Super Mario Bros when I read "trillionaire."

I have very conflicting feelings about it all. We ultimately should have processes to stop people from accumulating too much wealth. There should be a cap, in my opinion. But I have no idea how that would be implemented or enforced. People become above the law when they hit a certain point, which defeats the point of our society. At that point, they are no different than kings and queens.

  • Unfortunately, that hasn't helped North Korea. I sometimes wonder about this myself, but I think It's unlikely people would attempt to overthrow a brutal government. It requires extremely desperate angry people with absolutely nothing to lose.

  • I never understood that. Nobody is going to want to work with America again in the future. They proved they can't be trusted. Seemed pretty short-sighted when they'll eventually need assistance again in the future
