  • As an outsider, I personally would like to see them branch away from the democrats and start a new party. The whole system needs to be fixed from the ground up. But perhaps it's too soon for that. Maybe things need to get worse first. Maybe government reform is too "extreme" at the moment.

My reasoning is that if the system survives this, it will likely return to the same BS that plagued it before. When this situation is fixed, I would hope there are actual solutions rather than band-aid fixes.

However any action is better than nothing at the moment.

  • I'm not sure if we can prevent it entirely. I suppose all it would take is one bad actor to get a bot set up, and it would be off to the races.

I would hope that we would be able to figure out ways of identifying real people online. Surely, there's gotta be some way we can alleviate the issue?

  • I'm still only on chapter 3 I think? Haven't played too much yet. Gotta go look up some tutorials on weapon combos and figure out how to organize my items and load outs.

I feel like I'm missing my attacks a lot more compared to MH World, but maybe I'm just really rusty haha

  • You're very welcome! Another tip I forgot to mention is to go into your settings and turn off auto-play videos. That setting might be mobile only? I can't remember off the top of my head, but I found that's how I started seeing stuff I didn't want to.

It was auto playing videos and sometimes would play a few seconds of something I had no interest in, and then try to show me more of that as a result. This should help!

There was a week or so where I kept getting pushed shock content that was really gross and this was what helped fix it for me.

In the future if you ever click on a video and realize you don't like it at all, you can go into your watch history and delete it there manually and it should help keep it from recommending similar videos too.

  • My hope right now is that this leads to some kind of democratic reform. It was long overdue. The system needs to be reworked from the ground up to protect the people and society as a whole. In the best case scenario, this could change the world drastically for the better. Similar to the labor movement.

The circumstances that would breed such drastic change would probably be terrible though. But it's the one thing that I keep hoping for

  • If it's still causing you problems, try deleting your entire watch history and then immediately go and click on some of your favorite videos, topics, or interests and let the videos play for a while.

I had to do this once to stop being shown stuff I didn't want to see, and it seemed to help.

You're absolutely correct, though. Whatever you click on the algorithm will aggressively push similar content to you. If you aren't paying attention, it will happily shovel slop, and I can see why youth would be taken down an alt right rabbit hole.

  • My hope is that people will just start using social media that specifically tries to avoid AI generated content. Where they know they are directly interacting with real people. I think what's frustrating for me is that we're seeing this technology being used for bad reasons. I think AI has specific use cases where it could be extremely useful? But I think there's far more ways it's being used for garbage right now.

I've noticed when I'm watching YouTube videos specifically. I've started to gravitate slightly towards videos that have lower production values. Or that seem a lot more casual and genuine.

  • I hope you are able to get to a much more comfortable place in life.

One thing that I try to remind myself of is that nothing is permanent, and things can turn around for the better. But I know that when we're in the moment, it doesn't feel that way

I've appreciated your contributions to beehaw, but I hope that they aren't causing you more stress. Please take care of yourself!

  • I think they are people with an endless greed that feeds into itself. With their money, they can generate millions in passive income just by having investments. The system rewards their behavior

An analogy that pops into my head is when you have people that are high rank in a multiplayer game, create a new account so that they can be paired with people who are just starting out. The system feels like it's just letting smurf accounts demolish everyone.

That analogy maybe isn't perfect, though, because it implies the ultra wealthy are more skilled when it's really just a resource allocation issue.

  • Sure, I apologize as it might sound a bit negative. I came to the realization that it is increasingly unlikely that I will be able to live the same way my parents did from their mid 20's to 50's.

So I either need to reduce the amount of work I do, live a very simple life, and really try to milk as much out of life as I can.

Or I just keep trying to "win" at the rat race. But I don't have confidence in that. I think something clicked and really solidified the idea after watching this video (it's long) https://youtu.be/9GumiLIxLMM

In a way, this felt liberating because I have lived with a lot of guilt wondering why I am not good enough, smart enough, hard working enough. But it also made me realize I need to set my expectations in life even lower. That part I'm struggling with as I wanted to travel one day. Not sure if it's possible. But maybe!
