  • I think it's about audience. People who care about quality and bitrates and such usually have their couple of private trackers. People who just want to watch things regardless of quality just get whatever

  • When you look at the side by side pics with the buildings in the background the buildings are a lot clearer with sharp edges. Not sure I like this as much. They're supposed to be a little soft and out of focus.

  • We're only 34 years from this being true

  • I'm not sure it's really beyond the scope of AI. Stuff like stable diffusion in-painting / out-painting and some of the stuff Adobe was showing off at their recent keynote shows were already there.

  • For context, the emachines "never obsolete" wasn't referring to this computer, it was a recycling program where you could send your old machine back and get a huge discount on your next one. It was actually a pretty good deal at the time, especially when your average family machine was a lot more expensive than they are today

  • They're not trying to trick you they're trying to rank up in Google. It's basically SEO in real life. Every business with any online awareness is trying to juice their SEO. This isn't the businesses fault, this is the world Google made for us.

  • They're AI generated, so check those communities.

  • No. It's just emulation you pay for. They don't even offer enhancements you can find in emulation like widescreen or 4k.

  • If you can, seek out the docuseries "we need to talk about Cosby". As someone born in the mid 80s I never got the appeal because the Simpsons were the replacement TV family to supersede that generation of sitcom. The docuseries does a great job of giving the viewer the full picture and the first episode is mostly around why he was so successful. Honestly I got it. They played some of his stand-up bits and I found myself laughing despite knowing where the story was going. When he got the Cosby show, it was a revolution at the time to have an all black upper middle class family on TV, hence where you get the America's dad (in its time). It's all the more impactful when you spend the following episodes digging into his depravity.

  • I mean it's not even new. The last decade we mostly just called it machine learning and this type of work has been going on longer than that. It only feels new because we're putting generative tools in people's hands. It's already proven itself, it's already replacing jobs.

  • I think this all goes to show tone shifting is a difficult art and artists who choose to do it need to be able nail it or get ready to fall flat. I think Oliver is a master at tone shifting and it's all done with taste and confidence.

  • On a separate note (or possibly related), I just couldn't get into this show. I love Stewart and watched daily show for years. I found the problem with... Problem was that it had a fear that the content wasn't good enough to stand on it's own so there was this constant barrage of quips that frequently fell flat. Maybe the show got better over time (I only caught the first 3 or 4 episodes).

  • Now a days it's:
