  • I saw the first in the theater and my expectations were way too high and I left disappointed. I just rewatched it at home the other day and felt a lot better about it this time around. I think now that I know what I'm getting into, I'll have a better time with the second one.

  • I'm not going to watch that show but man do I find that kind of content weirdly entertaining in 5-10 minute chunks on YouTube.

  • A lot of my printing happens when parents visit. They love to print everything. I'm much more likely to use the scanner on my Brother printer than actually print.

  • I remember a time when news for most people came from the local paper and/or a 30 minute network evening TV show. Both were written by real journalists who attempted to be unbiased.

  • Obscure, cult, and foreign genre movies. I like finding films that have been lost to time and I have this probably irrational fear that if I don't acquire them they'll disappear and I'll lose my chance to see them.

  • I don't think there's a backlash against shorter games. Ubisoft found a formula that has kept people playing their games for long periods of time, and if anything, there's a backlash against these long, collect-a-thons.

  • Yeah, I feel that way about all entertainment. I don't want to be watching 8 hour movies, reading a book for six months, or sitting through 20 seasons of a TV show. There are so many entertainment options, it seems crazy to spend so much time on one thing.

I'm currently enjoying Witcher 3 but at the 80 hour mark I'm seriously considering finishing Hearts of Stone and then taking a break before tackling Blood and Wine.

  • I got unlimited, synchronous 1 Gbps a year ago and I agree that for day-to-day applications it's not much different from the 250 Mbps I was getting from Comcast. There are a few noteworthy exceptions for me: (1) It's much easier to maintain a good torrent ratio (2) Large backups, like system images, to the cloud are much more feasible now. (3) Comcast limited me to 1.2 Tb a month which sounds like a lot until you realize how quickly you can kill that downloading modern games.

In general I think less about my internet service now. It's not at all life changing but it's nice.

  • Yeah from an audio/video quality standpoint we've taken a big step backwards with streaming. I'd rather watch an HD blu-ray movie than a 4K stream from Netflix or Max. With a semi decent multi-channel sound system the streaming offering is even more stark.

  • I lived in Niger from '86 to '92 as a kid. It's sad to see a country in which I spent my formative years in such bad shape. There are so many wonderful Nigeriens that don't deserve this

  • Yeah, I don't think this even qualifies as news.

  • I'm not sure any car company could make me feel comfortable about using a full auto feature.

  • I think it would be completely reasonable to put an upper age limit on elected officials - say you can't run after 75. You can run right before 75 and serve as an elected official for a few more years, but after that you're done.

  • Add soon as I started reading it i had this feeling that I'd heard this story or something very like it before.

  • Not sure how you had your Chromecast set up but I have the 4K version on one TV and the Nvidia Shield on another. The apps I want are favorited and sit right in the center of the screen. I turn it on with my remote and select the app to launch it. I'm not sure it could be any simpler.

  • I feel cynical about this and don't think we live in a time when most people's minds can truly be changed. Therefore I choose not to engage most people about politics and so find it easier to like people.

  • There's definitely a samurai cop. I've seen the movie.

  • "In a video message, an ā€œecstaticā€ PragerU CEO Marissa Streit announced the ā€œmove into schools,ā€ claiming ā€œparents have been frustrated, teachers have been frustrated,ā€ because ā€œschools have been hijacked by the left"

Assuming there's any truth at all to it, why is the go-to solution to schools being hijacked by the left for them to now be hijacked by the right?
