  • Serious question. Is it actually better for the typical user? I don’t mean people commenting here. I’m thinking about the majority that don’t care about privacy, blocking ads, quality technology, etc. for those people, I’m guessing that Firefox is equivalent. Just another browser that works fine. So why switch??

  • As the person criticizing the top level comments, I just want to say thanks. This is a straight answer and an option that I wasn’t aware of. Looking into it!

  • I consider it a hobby farm. We currently have 2 horses and 3 goats. But it’s not a business at all and doesn’t generate income.

  • Kinda funny how much the styles differ between USA and Europe 🙂. Looks like a great work truck. No space for a car seat in the back though so you would need a separate family vehicle. Which might be practical anyway!

This would satisfy my regular truck needs. But a 2200lb hauling capacity doesn’t work well with horses. A single horse can easily weighs 1200 pounds.

I could see this being great for many people here. But it’s also not a universal fit.

  • I wasn’t aware but I’m also not surprised. I think there’s two things that give my truck decent fuel efficiency. First is it’s much lighter than a 2500 or 3500. Which means I can’t haul as much but oh well. Second is the feature where the engine only runs on 4 cylinders most of the time. I notice a big difference when it’s running all 8. This isn’t available on the larger trucks. Oh and I think mine has a 4:32 axel ratio but it’s been a while. If that’s the same engine, then the larger trucks should be able to run on 4 cylinders as well. Super lame if the just don’t enable it. Maybe it’s not effective with a heavier truck?

  • I probably don’t represent most people very well. But my wife and I have a single vehicle, a gmc sierra 1500. We probably use the bed twice a week. Trash/recycling. Moving heavy things around our property. Makes for a great mobile workbench for projects outside. And most often of all, we buy hay and grain for horses. A smaller truck would be a problem for us. We would actually benefit from a larger truck! But I don’t want a bigger gas guzzler. We get great fuel efficiency given the size of the truck.

Edit: I also don’t live in a city. It’s quite rural here

  • While the other responses so far have good info, none has offered a useful answer. Yes, apple collects data, but thankfully don’t sell it to the world. Buying a new phone isn’t a trivial expense so some of us are stuck for a bit. As a fellow IOS user (for now), I too would like to hear some more options.

The best I’ve found so far is Typewise. They claim to be private and secure but it’s closed source so so knows. Apple gets to review their code when submitting to the app store which says that Typewise collects some data but none of it is linked to the user. It’s freemium. Unfortunately, I don’t like their keyboard. Swipe typing is my personal requirement🙂

  • Huh. Why??

  • I think “server” or “waiter” are more commonly used words but they’re all roughly the same. It’s usually a person working in a restaurant that take orders, gets drinks, delivers food, etc.

  • Personally I think the right method is to only roll when there’s pressure. If you’re good at a skill and there’s no pressure, then it just succeeds.

  • Oh and ya, it’s has a one time passcode function. Works great! It will even autofill into OTP fields… sometimes 🙂

  • Bitwarden uses end to end encryption. This severely reduces the risk their infra is attacked. The encryption keys exist on your devices only so it’s impossible to read the server side data.

The only real question is how much you trust Bitwarden as a company. Are they completely lying about E2EE to customers and auditors? If not, then Bitwarden is a good choice.

  • Bitwarden has been working well for me on iOS. It’s a paid feature though. $10 a year I think

  • Ok the dialogue is fantastic. But these characters are 100% backwards! Seriously, the tanky looking guy should be the paladin and the cloaked and hooded guy should be the rogue. Plus if we’re giving The Punisher a dnd class, paladin is basically a perfect fit. Chaotic good.

  • In my recent experience, that wasn’t the case. Ultrasound at the ER was $370 for the contracted radiologist. And a whipping $1700 for a 5 minute use of the machine.

  • So apple does something crappy… And you’re upset with the people that enjoy their services?

  • This really depends on the services you’re interested in. If you want something like aws, then no 🙂

There are plenty of other service providers that do things more ethically. Bitwarden is good, random example in my opinion. The software is e2ee and their service just syncs data between your devices. It’s not really possible for the bitwarden, the company, to read or mishandle your data in a way that matters. Note that this doesn’t apply to the credit card info for paid accounts. Still, this is what I consider “the good guy”.

So what services are you looking for?

  • Has anyone here tried Kando yet? Looks like a very nice tool. How does it compare to typical keyboard shortcuts?

  • The blog/article calls it out out well: other tech companies are running at much greater magnitudes.

  • Well I guess I can offer a dissenting opinion on this one. YouTube video links are fine on Lemmy? I like watching a short video or two each day?

Yes, YouTube sucks for privacy. So I don’t have an account and use Firefox Focus to be anonymous. I do wish there were better alternatives to YouTube.

I don’t like ads and that includes people advertising a channel. But I haven’t personally seen this happen much on Lemmy. Maybe not all. I guess I don’t see why it needs to be banned.

Anyone else seeing things this way? Or am I missing something?

    Edit:

I’ve thought about it more. I think I was indeed missing something. Is the complaint referring to all the posts that contain nothing but a YouTube link?

If that’s the case, I guess it’s a valid complaint. Doesn’t really bother me though. I just scroll on by the posts that don’t interest me
