Paid software absolutely has a place in the world. Evil companies producing evil software designed to build a monopoly and lock out FOSS apps do not. I don't think Sync falls into the latter and I'm happy they've made the choice to be able to eat.

I had to fix one on a construction site. I opened it up and it was full of dust from all the brickwork they had been doing. As in, nearly completely full of it. I bet their lungs looked the same too :(

I usually need to be in the mood for grunge to seek them out specifically among a few other bands too. But, if this song randomly comes on, I definitely turn it up. There's no one stand out song from anyone that I'd say is my number 1 favorite, I like a lot of music.

I say use the best tool for the job and that tool sadly is usually Windows for most games if you demand top performance and minimal fuss especially when your free time is limited.

Linux has come leaps and bounds from a time where just getting a AAA game running was a feat. But it's not quite there yet for myself at least.

Ditch it on mobile and try Firefox Mobile instead. You can install ublock origin in it, it's great.

The biggest problem you will run into isn't your skills but the willingness of the people who run various projects to even entertain or accept your ideas or input at all, regardless of your credentials or anything else. You could have the best, most logical UI design for an app and they often won't even entertain the thought of it what-so-ever. This goes double if you lack the ability to actually code it yourself using whatever frameworks and things the project itself uses.

I've worked extensively with various open source projects over the last 30 or so years and that's always the biggest barrier of them all.

I'm a long time RIF user myself and as much as it would be great to have a Lemmy version we have so much to choose from it literally doesn't matter at all. You can tweak Connect to basically work similar to RIF if you want.

Please don't hate on the dev or Tildes itself, it serves no purpose at all and we are better than that as a community.
