  • But how is Joe Biden saying "billionaires should pay more taxes" any different from when Obama said it?

I hope I'm proved wrong, but I expect the same results: no legislation, no policy change, only rhetoric.

  • Declassified documents show that former presidents like Reagan and JFK were on extreme cocktails of drugs.

Trump famously had that pic showing his oval office desk drawer full of Ephedrine (the good EU kind, not pseudo)

I would be utterly shocked if Biden was drug free.

But does it matter? Biden's energy level and coherence were well above expectations.

  • It's hard to imagine what it feels like to watch your newborn baby starve to death.

It's hard to imagine the desperation, the sorrow, the helplessness.

It's hard to imagine the rage, the impotence, the desire for justice and revenge.

Its hard to imagine that Hamas will ever run out of new recruits.

  • Every SOTU since at least Clinton has had a section where the president says he supports a variety of populist economic policies. Anyone who follows politics closely knows that this is just pandering to voters, it is not representative of actual policy that will be adopted.

Your friends are right to be cynical.

  • I'm doing the pragmatic thing: trying to pressure the Biden administration to change course on Gaza, because if he stays on his current course then a Trump victory is assured.

You are doing the desperate, ineffective thing: Voter shaming. Its counter-productive and you should stop, you are only hurting your cause.

And let's be real, this presidential election does not matter much to the Palestinians. If the current blockade stays in place there will be mass death from starvation. The next 6 months are critical for the survival of the Gazan people, it is cowardly and unethical to keep your mouth shut for political reasons.

  • I dont know what you mean by "what's coming to them". Right now it seems like there are no consequences for their actions, so nothing is coming to them.

I believe Netanyahu, Ben-Gvir, Smotrich, and other military leaders have committed grave war crimes. They should be tried in international court and given a life sentence.

I also believe the Israeli state owes a gigantic financial debt for the destruction of Gaza's infrastructure. Israel has systemically destroyed water treatment, electricity production, schools, hospitals, residential buildings, etc. and they should rebuild it all.

But I do not believe violence is part of the answer. We need permanent ceasefire, we need truth and reconciliation, we need justice. Any post-ceasefire violence is unacceptable, whether it be against Israelis or Palestinians.

  • JDAM-equipped bombs hit a target with an error range of only 20 feet.

Israel has full air control, as well as numerous spy satellites to monitor Gaza in real time.

I believe the attacking force does care exactly where their strikes hit. This is deliberate.

  • People in northern Gaza have described in detail about their decline.

In the first month or two, they ate the remaining food and slaughtered the animals. Then they ate animal feed for months. When that was gone, they ate bird seed. Now with nothing left, they eat grass.

When it's only grass, people start to die. Children and elderly first. And that is the stage of famine we are at now.

People can survive a long time on very low food. But they can't survive forever.

  • There is no one to vote for to help the Palestinians.

The only hope for Gaza is for Biden to change course and use his significant leverage to convince Bibi to end the blockade.

If the status quo of famine is allowed to continue, there will be no Gazans left to bomb when Trump is sworn in on Jan 2025.

  • Yeah, you can't just call up Israel, threaten US aid, and tell them to end hostilities: that only worked when Reagan and did it! And when HW Bush did it! /s

I dont understand this idea that the US has no leverage when we are sending Israel billions of dollars. Without US resupply, several crucial Israeli military systems would be forced to shut down.
