  • I find it kinda funny that the devs of Anarchy Online didn't think about kiting as a strategy in 2025.

Even if they made collisions/blocking not possible, you could still lure hostile mobs on another player as has been tradition in many games that have no PvP at all since the days of MUDs and MUSHes.

  • Antidisestablishmentarianism but against Nazis instead of the Church of England.

  • Pushes it all deeper inside and compacts it into a solid brick, and then a not-so-gentle spray of liquid helps fire the turd brick out so hard you don't have time to react to the pain.

  • I would never expect a dog to just "be good."

Nobody should. They need to be taught what is good and bad just like a person. If you want a pet that can basically care for itself, get a cat.

  • Most of these are specifically Linux or developer things. While they are nerds, they're just one very specific subset of the nerd kingdom. You don't necessarily need to know what these are unless you're getting into self-hosting, Linux, or software development.

Federated is the only term that might be useful to a general Lemmy user. It just describes the way that Lemmy talks to itself (through instances sharing posts with each other to make the separate websites run as one service) or to other services like Mastodon or the like, which are part of the larger "Fediverse."

  • Not anymore... Had a box of old/junk parts lying around before I moved but I didn't bring it with me because it was essentially just garbage I never got around to taking to the electronic recycling thing because it was just a once a year thing that cost me money.

I'd have no problem giving away stuff like that. I wouldn't take parts out of an active machine to let someone "borrow" tho.

  • The OG Motorola Razr was the most aesthetically pleasing phone I ever remember. Shit was like TOS Star Trek's communicator thingy.

  • The first time I saw one of those was in person, and also the weirdest place. Was installing internet for a small business and they had a California king size bed in an office right behind the reception desk and this giant fucking dog was taking up the entire bed.

I hella want one so my huge ass could ride a dog like a horse. They are that big.

  • Probably a titan. Who created the universe in Greek myth? ๐Ÿค”

Fire is a fundamental force of nature. Like gravity. So it either wasn't "invented" or was invented by the universe's creator if one exists. Newton didn't invent gravity. He didn't even discover it. He just found a new way to describe it via numbers instead of words (but also so many words).

  • In 1944 would it be controversial for someone to chant "Death, death to the SS!"?

Um... Yeah. I'm thinking it would have gone down more or less the same as it is now. Loads of sane people agreeing with the sentiment, but the ones running the show wouldn't and their bootlickers would follow suit.

  • They are all spiders, but if it hadn't said they were all spiders I could have still just looked at that guy with little scrutiny and went "wait a minute..." He looks the least ant-like.

  • From the comments, I guess some people prefer the emptiness. I, on the other hand, like having things to do. TOTK has so much to do. It also tells the story way better. BOTW was amazing when it was new, but it didn't hold my attention for more than 30 hours. There wasn't enough quests, no reason to explore the map other than the sake of seeing what was there (which was nothing 90% of the time), and even the combat was not quite as good because the powers were uninteresting and nothing Zelda games hadn't done before along with the fact you go through weapons like popcorn so most combat just ends up being throwing your bombs at them.

TOTK fixed everything that was wrong with BOTW. It has so much stuff to do, and I don't just mean the boring-ass shrine puzzles. The powers are interesting, the building aspect is super fun, there is even more map to explore, it's easier to get around and there are reasons to explore it, quests up the wazoo, weapons last a bit longer and you can craft your own or just make a tank or something which is awesome, etc. It makes BOTW look like crap by comparison, even after being blown away by BOTW initially.

  • A human's humanity is inversely proportional to the amount of money they have. After a billion, you stop being human and turn into a lizard person. We are quickly approaching the day when a lizard person will evolve into something even weirder once they hit a trillion.

  • Bottom left is definitely a spider. I count 8 legs and can see the distinct segmentation of a spider body. Though, really, just dat fat ass gives it away.

  • Two ways you can afford to see a movie with $0:

    1. Sneak in
    2. Piracy

1 is harder than 2, but more thrilling and you can even get free snacks if the theatre offers refills and you dig through the trash.
