  • Haha, our moms must have been related. I felt soo rebellious by adding more butter than was called for to things. I still went far too long after that before I discovered that I'm not going to die at the dinner table if i use salt and/ or pepper. eg. I hate green beans. But put some garlic salt on them? Heck yeah.

  • This requires one to be responsible enough to get out from under the covers. Cold rooms are my perfect sleeping environment. I would just roll over and pass back out. I have the thermostat set to start warming up the place in the morning. If I'm too warm, I'll eventually not be able to go back to sleep.

  • Good idea. If one is worried that nat geo would be too upsetting if they're showing "nature taking its course" kind of stuff where the wildebeest doesn't make the river crossing, I offer the alternative streaming channel:

    thepetcollective.tv

It's just clips of sweet and/or funny pets, no potentially upsetting things.

  • well, shit. I did not know that about cats. I'm entering menopause and my hair is thinning. I bought a box but hadn't started using it yet. Guess that's going on the buy nothing group.

edit: I also started taking keratin and biotin supplements. While it hasn't been long enough to notice results in my scalp, my eyelashes are getting long and curly!

  • Knitters and crocheters call that "plarn". But I've not heard of anyone feeding it through a sewing machine first. We just roll up the strips. There's a way to cut the bag so that it's one long continuous strip.

A popular use for this material besides making reusable shopping bags is to make sleeping mats for homeless persons.

Edit: meant to say that I find the sewing machine use fascinating and will see if Google can shed more light on how to go about it and what machines it can/can't be done with.
