  • um, the goal is to get the heater going by drawing on the hot supply, right? I've only ever seen cold supply hooked up to a toilet. So emptying and refilling the toilet tank doesn't use up the cooled water in the hot supply line. However, catching cooler shower water in a bucket and using this to manually flush the toilet doesn't waste the water. It is a lot of effort though.

  • I don't think I've ever considered this before. How interesting.

My first thought is mushrooms. I think it's the umami of them specifically. Totally unrelated, but I also think bourbon & Scotch would qualify. I tend to be very intentional when I'm in the (infrequent) mood for strong spirits, and it tends to be a quiet evening with a fire and/ or instrumental jazz.

  • Skin picking can show up from other conditions such as OCD mentioned above, anxiety, and also ADHD. Try again to raise the issue with your therapist. If they are dismissive, find a new therapist. Sometimes it takes trying on a few therapists to find one who clicks with you and can be helpful.

  • lol, watched that series of videos unfold in real time on The Soup, and am sheepishly realizing there's probably a whole generation of people now that were too young/ not alive yet when that train wreck went down.

  • Some that are frequent fliers on these kind of lists but haven't been mentioned yet...

    • Evil Woman - ELO
    • Witchy Woman - Eagles
    • Black Magic Woman - Santana
    • Living Dead Girl - Rob Zombie

and finally some non girls-Я-evil songs:

    • Abracadabra - Steve Miller Band
    • Ghostbusters Theme - Ray Parker Jr
    • Werewolves of London - Jackson Browne
  • One example that I like isn't at the end of the movie but at the very beginning.

    Dances With Wolves

Dude's shot in battle, about to lose his leg when the field doctor gets called away... then something happens...

  • Not Guinea, but I saw guinea pigs raised for food in a village in Tanzania. The local who owned them found it hilarious that we keep them as pets in the U.S. He asked me what we call them, and after i replied guinea pig, he said they definitely don't taste like pig.

  • As someone diagnosed ADHD (i.e. my relationship with dopamine is complicated) and a grandfather who had Parkinson's, this is news to me and a little worrying, but perhaps also making sense because I'm pretty sure adhd may have been present yet undiagnosed in that side of the family.

  • Southern schooled in 80s & 90s, here. They let us believe John Wilkes Booth was a lone actor and not part of an organized plot by southern men to assassinate the president.

The first time one of my northern friends mentioned that bit about a conspiracy, my little naive mind was rocked that schools might bend or bury the truth.

The rest of the list was pretty accurate. Except nurses in schools was a Hollywood myth to me. There was no budget for such positions. We could go to the school office and ask to call our parents if we weren't feeling well, and we'd better be feeling pretty awful.
