  • My point is, most people don't actually care about Palestine enough to sway their votes. Same with most genocides. People don't like them but think other issues are more important. People care about issues that affect them directly. If they're not voting, it means they don't think a decision will affect them (rightly or wrongly).

Conservative Muslims (not Arabs, they're different) mention Palestine as a distraction. They were always going to vote Republican because they are conservative and have conservative values.

  • the whole genocide thing

No informed voter thought Trump would be better for Palestine than Kamala. Remember, people say one thing publicly when their private reasons are actually less popular.

The conservative Muslims who claimed they loved Palestine voted for Republicans because they are conservative. They are using the Palestinian people as political pawns, just like Hamas. They share conservative values with Republicans based on cultural issues. They differ on the justification for it, but they are all supporters of hierarchy. Same with conservative Latinos.

It's not popular to say "I like hierarchy and I want to be on top". Many supporters of hierarchy claim they love "individual rights" when they really want privileges for themselves. That's the reason why some people love the "Bill of Rights" but hate equality.

  • "Truthout" is just rage bait, even more so than more mainstream news media. They have no access to get interviews or direct reporting on the ground. Every article is just an opinion piece, whether they label it or not, because their goal is to enrage left wing readers.

  • You know the answer to this. Because the CEO at your company sucks but you still need the money. Many people, even those in your industry, do not wear suits at work. I guarantee it.

  • Please re-read:

Do you think "neurotypical" people love dealing with random people's opinions and needs?

Disliking a suit and tie isn't some revelation to "normies". You are not a radical for thinking that. In fact, all the little things that annoy you probably annoy other people too.

This is a clue to easy small talk. Just say that something annoys you. "Oh man, this suit is murder in this heat." It's easy.

Either the answer will be "Yeah man, heh" or "nah, I like it". You have now successfully engaged in small talk.

  • exist because of ridiculous social expectations

This is called "taking other people's opinions into account". That's what a society is. If you want your opinions listened to and acted on by others, you have to reciprocate.

Do you think "neurotypical" people love dealing with random people's opinions and needs? No, but they see the value in cooperating with others to get what they want. You are "expected" to wear clothes in public because I don't know how often you bathe yourself. You are "expected" to not yell in public because if every rando yelled whenever they wanted, life would be more stressful.

  • When you close a business on paper you don’t suddenly lose access to services in the name of that business.

Yes you do. Your bank account is in the old business's name, and any lines of credit you have will be in that business's name as well. Doing anything for a new business is harder than for an established one. Once you explain "oh yeah I did own that one, I just changed the name for tax purposes" you sound like a scammer.

Banks and suppliers (good ones) are not going to waste their time figuring out your scheme. They will just drop you.

  • True. One of the biggest parts of modern-day American exceptionalism is thinking that only America has these problems. People who claim to dislike America unknowingly put it on a pedestal as "the worst thing ever", without acknowledging the very similar problems in their own backyard.

The main point of American exceptionalism is that "America is different from other countries", to an advanced degree. Some people mean "good" when they say "different", but it's not necessary.

American exceptionalism is the belief that the United States is either distinctive, unique, or exemplary compared to other nations.

  • It's true. In Massachusetts they had to use the NE Patriots plane to hide a shipment of PPE from China and protect it with the national guard (state military force):

    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/02/bob-kraft-patriots-plane-massachusetts-masks-160936

For weeks, Baker has warned that Massachusetts is in desperate need of more protective equipment including masks, sanitizing wipes and gowns for health care workers on the front lines of the coronavirus crisis, especially as cases are expected to surge sometime between April 7 and April 17 in Massachusetts.

The Republican governor has raised those concerns with Trump. He told the president the federal government was outbidding Massachusetts on equipment — even after advising states to work on getting their own supplies. A week later, the Bay State was still being outbid and had only received a fraction of what it requested from the Strategic National Stockpile. Baker grew increasingly frustrated at a recent news conference, saying he’d seen confirmed orders for millions of pieces of gear “evaporate” before his eyes.

  • I mean, I would assume that someone who doesn't get a new enough car doesn't have enough money to pay for commercial insurance. Also offering people rides on the street is a bad idea (because you can get robbed) and possibly illegal. This is just running an unlicensed taxi service. Gypsy cabs have been around for hundreds of years. It's not a good idea.

  • Wikipedia is one click away:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aral_Sea

Formerly the third-largest lake in the world with an area of 68,000 km2 (26,300 sq mi), the Aral Sea began shrinking in the 1960s after the rivers that fed it were diverted by Soviet irrigation projects. By 2007, it had declined to 10% of its original size

former United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called the shrinking of the Aral Sea "one of the planet's worst environmental disasters".

The Aral Sea region is heavily polluted, with consequent serious public health problems. UNESCO has added historical documents concerning the Aral Sea to its Memory of the World Register as a resource to study the environmental tragedy.

  • But still, going from a "unbiased" pollster to a high-tech bookie is clearly a money grab. This article tells us very little, except "it's a close horse race!" That sounds exactly like what a bookie would say to get more money on the match.

His focus has changed. I wonder how Nate Silver himself would treat a formerly good pollster who recently started an online betting arm? I suspect he would downgrade their reliability due to conflict of interest.
