  • This old man needs to step away and let someone younger run for president. He clearly has no idea what he's saying, and probably doesn't know what day / year it is. When will his party call for him to step down? How can he function without drooling all over his oatmeal?

  • No, you will not "have to do it". Either they can afford to pay a qualified person to do it, or they can't. If they can't afford a more expensive person, they definitely can't afford to fire you. You are the cheap one.

Think about it: if they put themselves in this situation, they are going to end up cleaning it themselves. "Need money for rent and food"? If you have a crappy minimum wage job, you have the power. Literally no one above you wants to do your work. You can definitely tell them "no". Do you think there's some shortage of crappy minimum wage jobs?

  • Reminder to anyone still working retail: if your job description isn't "janitor", you don't need to clean that up. It's a biohazard and they can pay more expensive people with better equipment to do it.

  • Lol. Pickleball stuff is getting more expensive than tennis equipment. It's actually a good time to get into a real sport.

You can buy new tennis balls for like $1 each, while pickleballs are more. Think about that: tennis balls are rubber and fuzz, hard to make. Pickleballs are just plastic. Same with the racquets. Pickleball stuff is just plastic and maybe a rubber grip. Tennis racquets can be all kinds of expensive carbon fiber.

  • JFK is not considered one of the best. He didn't even have a full term, so there's no way to know. People liked him because he was young and handsome and died that way.

He started the Vietnam War. His only real test was the Cuban Missile Crisis. He did adopt Keynesianism economic policies (over more classical policies) and proposed the bill that became the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Those are all important, but he honestly wasn't in office long enough to do much.

And besides, like you said he was 43, not 35. AOC would not be able to do anything because she doesn't have the relationships yet. Good presidents don't come from the House of Representatives. They come from the Senate (JFK, Obama), Governors (FDR), or Vice Presidents (Harris).

  • Their interpretation isn't "originalist" or "strict" at all. It's just what they want to say, at any given moment. History would be very different if both of your parents had to be US citizens. The president of the US is required to be a "natural born citizen"

Of the 45[a] individuals who became president, there have been eight that had at least one parent who was not born on U.S. soil.

For one, Donald Trump might not be president because his mother was born in Scotland.

For those (uninformed) Trump supporters who claim she was a citizen when little Donny was born, that's true but her immigration process was much easier than it is today. This is it, in its entirety:

On May 2, MacLeod left Glasgow on board the RMS Transylvania arriving in New York City on May 11 (one day after her 18th birthday). She declared she intended to become a U.S. citizen and would be staying permanently in America.

Though the 1940 census form filed by Mary Anne and her husband, Fred Trump, stated that she was a naturalized citizen, she did not actually become one until March 10, 1942.[1][6][7] However, there is no evidence that she violated any immigration laws prior to her naturalization, as she frequently traveled internationally and was afterwards able to re-enter the U.S.

[She] became a naturalized citizen in March 1942

  • That’s how close we came to living in a good timeline.

That's not how politics works. That's not even how time works.

If you want change, you have to do something. That's how we got the minimum wage, etc. Not by being in a "good timeline".

  • It's better to be lucky than good at something. But there's a major difference between starting out middle class (or working class) and starting out wealthy.

The people who started and developed entire companies clearly had some skill. Massive intelligence isn't necessary, but they were not stupid. If they were stupid they would have already blown all the money. Compare what happens to lottery winners and you will see what I mean.

The difference is, future generations that inherit are more like lottery winners: they have no idea how to grow the money left to them. Plus they have no concept of staying under budget because they have always been rich. This is worse than a lottery winner because they already have an expensive lifestyle to maintain.
