  • This one is not AI, but when I'm unsure I like to do a reverse image search.

I think it's good to be skeptical, but don't lett it ruin your enjoyment of cute things!

Most AI is super obvious still, and even the subtle stuff has tells.

  • Returning to this thread to let you know I just finished The Stand! I quite enjoyed it and found quite a few similarities in theme between it and Station Eleven.

The version I got was the unabridged version, so it was a very long read, but I never felt like it was a slog, which is probably a testament to King's writing abilities.

    Anyway, thanks for the recommendation!

  • I am not saying you specifically edited the image, but there may have been some brightening or color contrast adjustment at some point, which is what I meant when I said "enhanced". At the very least there may be some image compression from the many times the same image has been shared since 2013... In which case I suppose that would be "dehanced".

Not that there anything wrong with editing or "enhancing" images. All professional photographers do it in one way or another, and it has been practiced since the early days of photography.

I think it is important for people develop critical thinking skills in order to differentiate between A.I. and non-A.I. images. Far too often I have seen people believing the most absurd things are real. There is nothing wrong with people calling it out when they see something that doesn't look or feel right— even if, as is the case here, we are wrong in our assumptions.

    This is how we learn.

  • A reverse image search brought me exact results from as early as 2013, which is long before A.I. was creating images like this. I agree that something looks off about the image, and it's definitely enhanced in some way, but I don't believe it to be A.I. generated.

  • Replying to myself with This CTV News Article from April 2023:

Once a new portrait subject has been selected, the banknote design process begins, and the banknote is ready to be issued a few years later,” Ferron-Craig told CTVNews.ca in an email on April 12.

So we can probably expect a banknote featuring king Charles in the next year or so.

  • He's on a lot of coins now. It was jarring the first time I saw him, but I've more or less gotten used to it.

Paper money doesn't have him, but not all bills have Queen Elizabeth either. Most of our bills feature notable Canadians and Historic Prime Ministers.

  • You could try setting your app to "mark posts read on scroll" and "hide read posts" as a workaround of sorts... Then when it refreshes you won't see the same posts you've already seen.

I have not tried it myself, so I don't know how well it works or how annoying it is if you want to go back and find something again.

  • Saskatoon has 2 working historic theaters, but neither are quite as old as what's mentioned here(Broadway Theatre was built in the mid 40s and Roxy was opened in the 30s). I think it would be fantastic to revive more of those old theaters. They are beautiful additions to community.

  • Enjoyed the breakdown.

It's also nice to see Carneys more personable side, after all the comments about him being standoffish and aloof.

I think he's a serious person doing a serious job, but he's still a normal guy behind all that.
