My hobby only has about 5,000 people in the US and I go to several meets a year and have friends from multiple states. I could do my hobby without ever interacting with anyone (and some people do it like that) but I like the social part.

I don't know the situation but voter suppression does exist. I think in Texas Republicans specifically targeted blue voting areas to limit the number of polling places creating multi hour wait lines, while red areas were minutes. Add in early and mail in voting restrictions and many people are disenfranchised.

Ya, going to the dentist can feel like seeing a car mechanic. You come in for one thing and then they try to sell you tons of other stuff that you are not even sure you need. It can feel really scummy. There are good ones but just like car mechanics they usually own their own business. If you go to the jiffy lube of dentists they will try to sell you other shit and may make the issue you went in for worse.
You may be able to get your RFID in a different format. I asked for a keychain thing that's not much bigger than a watch battery that are on my car keys. Most people do just put it in their wallet though.
