  • Ya, I live in a more restricted state and have purchased a handgun from out of state. It goes to a firearm dealer and they transfer it to you after doing whatever background checks your state requires. The gun isn't sold to the dealer, they just hold it while everything clears. I don't know anything about interstate private sales though.

One fun fact though is that you can buy an M1 Garand from the government and they'll ship it to your door. So that's pretty neat.

  • I'm not really sure. Falconry in the US mostly stopped after colonial times and didn't come back until the 1930s or so. The first clubs weren't formed until early 60s and formal licenses weren't until the 70s. I've seen magazine articles about mail ordering hawks, falcons, and eagles. I think most people made their own equipment and some stuff was sold word of mouth. I do know there was a lot of scouring of old (1600s and earlier) books for diagrams and instructions. I'll see if one of my books has stories or I'll ask some of the original members if I can remember.

Here's a short history on US history: https://www.n-a-f-a.com/page/History

  • I don't think it matters what 2fa the target had here, the attackers had him hook line and sinker. The bigger issue is that the attacker new everything about how the company worked internally, including staff. I would not be surprised if this company was already compromised, either from an external actor or internal.

  • I'm pretty sure the writers admitted they lurked forums and got really self conscious about how some people predicted the entire plot from like the first episode and wanted to really shake things up but lost the plot themselves.

  • Tangentially related, flying model aircraft. If there is no purpose for it to be in the air you just kind of fly back and forth and then ???? I went to a model airshow yesterday with 50lb+ jet models doing flips and shit and while all of the time, money, and engineering was impressive, if you've seen one model make a pass and do a loop you've seen them all.

  • My SIL got a rescue pitbull, worked with it every day and it was very well behaved. One day they came home and there was blood all over the house. It had attacked their other dog and luckily only grabed the collar which was ripped off and the tags all bent up. Dog was unrescued.

Few years later, I went to a dog park with my poodle. He sniffed a pitbulls butt and the dog whipped around and latched onto my dogs neck completely unprovoked and without warning. It took minutes and two adult men to get the pitbull off. Got lucky again and the pitbull only grabbed my dogs scruff but he still has scars years later. If it grabed just a little bit up my dog would have died.

Just a few weeks ago, me and my wife were walking down the street with our two dogs and 2.5 year old. Some dumb kids are chasing their 3 pitbulls through the streets as they got out. The loose pitbulls see our dogs from a block away and sprint at them. One runs up to my dog attempting to pick a fight immediately. I have had enough at this point and physically remove these dogs over and over until I can get the kids to control their dogs (which the never really do).

A bird dog naturally points birds. A bloodhound naturally follows scents. A cattle dog naturally corals animals (and toddlers). Is it so unbelievable that a dog fighting dog naturally fights dogs?
