If you go into your user settings you can set a screen name in addition to your @ and you can include some pronouns if you have enough characters left after entering your username into it (I think most Lemmy instances have a 25 character display name limit iirc so you should have space)

Idk, my point wasn't that your instance was inherently bad, I was just explaining why so many hexbears consider it to be a hive of bigots; we just extrapolated, mostly incorrectly, from the small sample size of users who came looking for us specifically to start shit

Like hexbear is moderated far more strictly than lemm.ee is and so I think there's more wriggle room for bigots to exist here without getting instabanned, but I don't think this is like a mega bigotry instance like it seemed to be at first

some posts suggesting lemm.ee is for racists.

This feeling has kind of permeated hexbear since early on in our federation we had several lemm.ee users seek out hexbear purposely to start shit with in various cases:

Basically we just had the worst pieces of shit from lemm.ee seek out hexbear and this soured a lot of the userbase against it. Rn I'm of the opinion that the moderation here is far too lax, but I'm realising it's not the cesspool of bigotry it came off as based on the users from lemm.ee who have been coming into our instance in these first few days of federation

At first hexbear users were unaware that our emojis were giant in other instances due to the glitch with the emoji resizing that the hexbear devs are apparently working on fixing currently

In the meantime we've taken up the habit of spoilering the emojis we know are massive when we're in communities in other instances (like I just did with the I'm vegan emoji above) until the bug gets fixed

We didn't call you that because there is an incredibly strong site culture against using ableist slurs and anybody who comes into our instance and says that slur is banned on the spot. I literally can't even see it because the hexbear instance automatically changes it to say removed instead. I would encourage you not to sling around ableist slurs in future.

In addition to doing hate speech against protected minority groups such as landlords and factory owners we also discriminate against other minority groups such as: war criminals, slave owners, Nazis, and fascist paramilitaries
